most of the forests close to where I live have been logged intensively since the late 1800s. Today on our walk we came across these two interesting trees growing out of old stumps. Campbell River, BC #VancouverIsland #PNW

arising out of old stumps, two trees with their roots hanging down around the stumps as they try to reach the dirt. A fallen tree is horizontal across the stumps and bisects the photo. In the background a forest of skinny second growth trees.

Great hike at Big Tree Ridge on Cougar Mountain last weekend. Little one did well on most of the trail, with some rides on yours truly's shoulders

A large, moss-covered, and slightly rotted tree stump. Lots of smaller trees behind it with the hilly horizon visible through them.
