Added a category manager and category state section to the Exocortex Log app.
Have now organized and cleaned up the categories in my ten year database and so we can get some views of the time spent in each category.
We see that through September and October I was in a routine of work and slack with a bit of social a couple of times a week, until the end of November when I went away for social at a conference all weekend. I saw a demo there of a person using Shakespeare, and then when I got back started doing some vibe-coding, shown in in Red.
A break from that to go away at the weekend to a long social party then finish it off and publish a few days ago, since when Vibe Coding has dropped off a little.

Also: we're seeing what happens when white people are actually motivated en-masse (and the George Floyd response was actually another decent example of this).
General strike -> capitalist class goes "oh shit we need to deescalate" -> temporary reprieve.
White people actually putting their bodies on the line (or at least near enough to it that ICE killed them) got results. This is direct evidence of just how much oppression depends on the social fragmentation it invests immense energy into creating in order to not get its ass kicked both ideologically and literally.
Also for those white people like me who are scared to participate: I don't have the numbers, but there were something like 50,000 people who stood up (even if we just want to count observers and joiners-of-whistle-crowds I'd guess at least 5,000-10,000). Two in that category died (more like 30 have died in the direct-targets-of-ICE category). So don't look at Pretti and think "protesting is so risky." Consider that both the odds of being the one or two killed are low, and that if you don't stand up quickly and strongly enough against this shit, the body count will grow much higher.
This isn't over, and continued escalation and resistance is super critical now. Rather than hoping the twin cities story is a story of heroes elsewhere who solved the problem, make it a story of an inspiring example that gets replicated in LA, Chicago, and all around the nation where ICE is trying to metastasize into an unaccountable secret police.

Very cool to see this.
I've often wondered if a Canadian EV "Kei Car" type program would help the country achieve zero emission goals, provide affordable transportation, and reduce grid lock in our cities.
In 1949, Japan created a special category of keijidosha (light vehicles) created for affordability and maneuverability in dense cities. The Kei car quickly became popular despite strict limits on dimensions (length, width, height) and engine displacement (under 660cc). They were given unique license plates for enforcement purposes and had tax benefits for owners.
What if an "Ion" vehicle category was created in Canada:
- must be manufactured in Canada
- minimum 100Km range, suitable for any urban commute
- limited to 50Km/hr
- restricted to street use, not to be used on highways
- size restrictions, perhaps Smart Car sized for personal vehicles, larger for commercial vehicle category
How many city-dwelling Canadians would buy a cheap EV to run errands and give the finger to big oil?

Abstract: We study the space of $A_\infty$-natural transformations between braiding functors acting on the Fukaya category associated to the Coulomb branch $\mathcal{M}(\bullet,1)$ of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ quiver gauge theory. We compute all cohomologically distinct $A_\infty$-natural transformations $\mathrm{Nat}(\mathrm{id}, \mathrm{id})$ and $\mathrm{Nat}(\mathrm{id}, \beta_i^-)$, where $\beta_i^-$ denotes the negative braiding functor. Our computation is carried out in a diagrammatic framework compatible with the established embedding of the KLRW category into this Fukaya category. We then compute the Hochschild cohomology of the Fukaya category using an explicit projective resolution of the diagonal bimodule obtained via the Chouhy-Solotar reduction system, and use this to classify all cohomologically distinct natural transformations. These results determine the higher $A_\infty$-data encoded in the braiding functors and their natural transformations, and provide the first step toward a categorical formulation of braid cobordism actions on Fukaya categories.

Per replies, something I need to clarify:
We often use the word “neurotypical” to mean “neither autistic nor ADHD.” That might be useful as a shorthand, I guess, but it’s that mode of thought I’m specifically arguing against here: creating a single catch-all category defined as a negative, calling it “normal,” and assuming that it fits most people.
That doesn’t stand up to empirical scrutiny, and I don’t think it’s particularly healthy or helpful.

I said "No, that's a cat, we're looking for a drawing of a cat," before realizing that technically we were looking for a drawing of a drawing of a cat, and the thing my kid pointed to was indeed a drawing of a cat, just not in that category relative to Simon's frame of reference...

Added a zoom level to the Category page on the Exocortex-Log app. Can make the graphs look a lot cleaner now.
Looking back over the last 100 months here, we can see in general my social life is quite seasonal -- Festivals are a lot of social all weekend long and a couple of them in a month really bumps up the hours from my usual habit of sitting alone in a dark room pressing buttons.
The peak in 2019 is a summer filled with Glasto and Noisily and another festival or camping trip I don’t seem to have recorded the name of.
Then clearly visible is the drop-off in social activity as the COVID pandemic hit. Virtual-Social (IE zoom meetings and the like) picked up quite a bit around there but had died back to almost nothing way before the hours spent with actual people started to tick up.
Annoyingly, I have my biggest gap in data right on top of the pandemic there, where I failed to back up for months and then data became corrupted.
When the data-hole is over we see social life still not really returning until the middle of 2021 and not really getting back into stride until summer 2022.
It remains much lower now on average with lower peaks than before the pandemic too. Multiple reasons.
Work is pretty constant all the way though other than the data-hole. Dipping when I take time off for social mostly.
That data-hole is annoying. Back up your data kids.

Rewriting Systems on Arbitrary Monoids
Eduardo Magalh\~aes
https://arxiv.org/abs/2601.10564 https://arxiv.org/pdf/2601.10564 https://arxiv.org/html/2601.10564

Abstract: In this paper, we introduce monoidal rewriting systems (MRS), an abstraction of string rewriting in which reductions are defined over an arbitrary ambient monoid rather than a free monoid of words. This shift is partly motivated by logic: the class of free monoids is not first-order axiomatizable, so "working in the free setting" cannot be treated internally when applying first-order methods to rewriting presentations.
To analyze these systems categorically, we define $\mathbf{NCRS_2}$ as the 2-category of Noetherian Confluent MRS. We then prove the existence of a canonical biadjunction between $\mathbf{NCRS_2}$ and $\mathbf{Mon}$.
Finally, we classify all Noetherian Confluent MRS that present a given fixed monoid. For this, we introduce Generalized Elementary Tietze Transformations (GETTs) and prove that any two presentations of a monoid are connected by a (possibly infinite) sequence of these transformations, yielding a complete characterization of generating systems up to GETT-equivalence.

Homotopy rigidity of nearby Lagrangian cocores

https://arxiv.org/abs/2511.09548 https://arxiv.org/pdf/2511.09548 https://arxiv.org/html/2511.09548

Abstract: An exact Lagrangian submanifold $L \subset X^{2n}$ in a Weinstein sector is called a nearby Lagrangian cocore if it avoids all Lagrangian cocores and is equal to a shifted Lagrangian cocore at infinity. Let $k$ be the dimension of the core of the subcritical part of $X$. For $n \geq 2k 2$ we prove that that the inclusion of $L$ followed by the retract to the Lagrangian core of $X$ and the quotient by the $(n-k-1)$-skeleton of the core, is null-homotopic. As a consequence, in many examples, a nearby Lagrangian cocore is smoothly isotopic (rel boundary) to a Lagrangian cocore in the complement of the missed Lagrangian cocores. The proof uses the spectral wrapped Donaldson-Fukaya category with coefficients in the ring spectrum representing the bordism group of higher connective covers of the orthogonal group.
