Remember when the USA was a global leader? A year ago?

I am on a 300-day Duolingo streak and sitting down with my 8-year-old nephew (who fluently speaks Spanish) and asking him if I said "Ella es una cabeza de caca" correctly is amusing.

Yesterday, a friend told me a fun linguistic experience: He and his partner (both speaking standard German) spent some time in Switzerland, both kids are born there. Kids went to crèche and kindergarten, they moved back to Germany when the oldest was 7. At home, all 4 spoke standard German. The parents only realized by visiting hours to crèche and kindergarten, that both kids were fluent in Züridütsch

Ein wichtiges Wort fehlt in der französischen Sprache: irgendwie.
Okay, okay, es gibt das Wort, allerdings ist es da bei Weitem nicht so griffig („d’une manière ou d’une autre “).
Und dabei benutze ich es so gern als Nachdenkpause, als Füllwort für fehlende Vokabeln etc. Ich nutze „irgendwie“ und seine Verwandten sogar inflationär in meinen Satiren.
(Im Englischen gibts zum Glück das „somehow“, und im Polnischen findet sich auch was.)
