Ew. I rather hope no organization I know or use allows Grok, and by extension its neo-Nazi owner, into any repo or project or code or anything I touch at GitHub:

Time wasting of the day: I'm working on an #Ansible playbook to configure my NAS. I just want to create a few tasks and test it. I get "no route to host", even though it works perfectly well with plain SSH.
I tweak a few parameters. I Google Search. I ask GitHub Copilot. Zilch.

This graphic showing that Cursor now has the majority market share over GitHub Copilot is fascinating. I’m curious if it’s because Cursor is an individual’s tool (so people are spending their own money). In contrast, GitHub Copilot is an enterprise tool (your corporate sugar daddy typically buys it for you).

Scary headlines like this mask what I call "talent debt": when companies cut juniors because seniors AI seem faster, forgetting that AI doesn't train future leaders. You're not saving money, you're cutting off your pipeline.

If I maintained a biggish open source project hosted on github I'd be annoyed to have it scavenged by Copilot.
In that case, I'd consider obfuscating the shit out of everything and using a descrambler before developing and building. And I'd laugh happily when I saw copilot use get_buffle_ir_643() in generated code.

Github copilot (at least through VS Code) has this new "Agent" mode with some of the AI copilot models. Instead of just answering questions or reviewing your code and pointing out where to copy/paste the slop, agent mode GOES AHEAD AND MODIFYS YOUR CODE..
On one hand its hecka fast. On the other hand its alarming as shit.

thanks everyone for impromptu donations, all is good again, that was a bunch of pleasant emails to wake up to 🙏❤️
it looks like that the refunds were caused by GitHub, NOT Thanks.dev. They apparently double-charged them first & then screwed up the refunds: {{ COPILOT_JOKE }}

I must be using Microsoft #Copilot wrong. Most of the things I ask it to do end up screwed up. Example: I asked it to tell me all of the URL shorteners that use the .li TLD. It gave me a few and then pointed me to a list someone maintains on GitHub of URL shortener domains. Ok, good start. I ask it to pull all the .li domains from the list for me. It does that. But I spot checked the list and f…

Tried GitHub Copilot code review, and it doesn’t understand the concept of future-dating blog posts. Worse, it suggests a random-ass date. This stuff sucks.

Copilot is pointing out that a post is future-dated and then randomly picking a date from 2 years ago.
