Just added Web Reachability API (at least that’s what I’m calling it) support to ip.small-web.org.
It’s for testing the reachability of your Small Web servers (using a domain or, more importantly, an IPv4/IPv6 address). I’m using it to implement Web Numbers¹ support in Auto Encrypt² and Kitten³.

Wow. I've dealt with various toxic personalities in software development, but a good portion of the time those toxic personalities were at least extremely knowledgeable in their (often, very limited) domain.
AI, however, seems to be enabling toxic personalities *who are completely clueless*. Impressive!

Working on a project that‘s still in development (creative development) and today I wrote up my recommendations for where it might register its domain names, since the project may not be to the current US presidential administration’s liking.
It is odd that that’s a reasonable concern.
Without a massive (and expensive) site reliability engineering (SRE) team, figuring out what might make things more resilient affordably is a nice way to try to find some control amid the chaos. …

As usual, STMicro makes silicon I mostly like, but I don't like their packages.
Here's the STM32MP257 TFBGA436 package with balls color coded (somewhat roughly) by power domain/function. I grouped some similar rails together e.g. all low voltage digital core balls are the same color (orange) even though there's multiple 0.8 / 0.82 / 0.9V domains there. All IO power (except dedicated PHY rails) is magenta regardless of which bank(s) it's for.
Things of note:

BGA footprint diagram with pins color coded. Some of the yellow and green balls are nowhere near gray ones.

- The evolution of air defense strategy

When a change happens, it is usually because the marketing people deem the original abbreviated domain name (e.g., nwu) to suck and should reflect a more obvious and usually lengthy name (e.g., northwestern). Many of the IT people find this dumb and annoying of course.

Today I had this brilliant idea for a domain name. I'm surprised that no one else has thought of it yet and that the domain was still available: cloudflare.com #joking

STM32MP2 bringup update: after fixing some weird linker things with weak symbols that per documentation should never have worked and yet somehow never bit me until now, I have a C stub running on the M33 out of RAM (no flash boot, you have to JTAG/SWD load it for now).
It turns on three of the four LEDs on the devkit, for reasons currently unknown the fourth LED doesn't work. My only guess is that it's in the VDDIO3 domain and I might not yet have turned that on due to PMIC c…
