She started a new job and they gave her a new macbook, and she haaaaaates it. I can't tell if it's because she just got used to Linux, or if it's because Apple has actually made their OS worse in the past 15 years.
@alejandrobdn@social.linux.pizzaThis coming November, I'll be holding my second GNU/Linux installation workshop. I'll probably choose Linux Mint with XFCE or LXDE. I think those are the ones that are least disruptive to the Windows mindset.
Little by little, we're showing that GNU/Linux stopped being just for nerds a long time ago.

Jeg har fået fat i en 27" iMac fra 2015 til billig penge.
En lille ekstra udgift kom der til, da jeg skulle kŸbe et kit til at åbne maskinen (skærmen er limet fast i dens kabinet).
Nu er den gamle 4TB HDD erstattet med en 1 TB SSD- og så spiller den bare- med Linux Mint vel at mærke. Jeg er ikke Apple fan, men den pynter altså! <3

At least compared to how things used to be. @mro@digitalcourage.social @SteveFoerster@social.vivaldi.netFinally got around to replacing MacOS on my ten year old MacBook Air with Linux Mint Xfce. It installed fine, then I did an update from the 6.14.x kernel to the 7.0.x kernel and... kernel panic.
I had to boot the installer again and spend more than an hour messing around in the command line to go back to the older kernel, then mark it so it will never update it again.
Ahh, Linux... you sure know how to welcome someone back to the fold!

Ich hab ein Linux mint frisch installiert und nun kommt alle paar minuten Kernel panic, muss gestehen, hab bis jetzt mit Kernel Panic nicht soooo viel zutun gehabt oder besser gesagt, sogut wie gar nicht.
