Folks who have successfully bootstrapped a complex open source project from a solo endeavor with occasional third part PRs up to something with multiple core developers and lots of more casual contributors: how do you handle the balancing act between conflicting responsibilities?
I'm sitting on top of 250K lines of complex multi threaded C and GLSL HPC code in ngscopeclient and it's been a constant struggle to clean up decade old technical debt to make it easier for new devs …

Seems like this could be useful for some #Selfhosted / #HomeLab folks. m.vinduv.app/@VinDuv/115940541

So, I have assembly running on the devkit on both arm64 cores.
But I can't run C until I can compile C, and have a C runtime library.
Attempts to build newlib from scratch as a standalone library ended poorly (I got a makefile that did nothing, apparently other people have hit this and I never got a straight answer as to how one builds a naked cross-newlib, not as part of a compiler).
So now I'm trying to build a full aarch64-none-elf toolchain. Wish me luck.

I'm not saying that I'd be telling folks that I won the lottery - but there would be signs.

Claude Sonnet 4.5 describes the image as: "This image captures a tense dramatic moment from the British science fiction television series "Blake's 7." The scene takes place in what appears to be a spaceship interior, characterized by sleek metallic walls and futuristic lighting fixtures visible at the top of the frame.

In the foreground, two characters face each other in what seems to be a confrontational exchange. On the left stands a woman wearing an elegant white off-shoulder garment with g…

Any computer touchers familiar with the origin story of UUIDs/GUIDs?
In particular I'm curious how we ended up with the weird format of 32 bits, 2x 16 bits, 8 bytes rather than the two obvious formats (uint32[4] or uint8[16]). And the C struct format doesn't align with the typical hex printing (8-4-4-4-12 hex digits)
My best guess is that it's somehow related to the version 1 GUID format where you'd have { MAC address, version nibble, timestamp} but neither the st…
