Wow, seems the people farmers of surveillance capitalism have fully embraced scammer techniques now.
Ran into this new flow on a number of sites just now (Indiewire, Variety, and RollingStone) delivered by the colossal douchebags at html-load.com who run report-error.com.
They make it look like a browser error has occurred and then tell you to disable your tracker/ad blocker.
To the asshole developers who built this for them instead of refusing: Fuck you for making everyone…

As @coreyspowell.bsky.social has written;
NASA is sending the OSIRIS-APEX mission to Apophis.
It is already in the sky and will arrive just after the 2029 flyby.
Trump and those with him tried to illegally shut down OSIRIS-APEX in 2025 May.
Members of Congress intervened to keep it going.

Content warning: intense Gnome frustrations no one should be forced to read

so
very
frustrating
#Gnome #Evolution how is this even possible? Fresh #Debian13 install, launched, added my google workspace, read and answered email, browsed calendar, really nice, but the VERY NEXT MORNING suddenly tossed into OAuth2-is-missing, step through the 'wizard' and it always ends with the same heartache, are you trying sign in? and then…
Mail authentication (shown) gives a URL to a page, Make sure you trust Gnome (4 perms already granted, Google console agrees) but in Firefox that URL asks to confirm and then reverts to google.com. In the minibrowser, it gets to "Requesting access token, please wait"
And wait you do.
How is this even POSSIBLE? What could cause it to (a) drop an OAuth2 overnight that had been in use for a day and (b) subsequently give a URL that does not result in an access token. I removed permissions on the Google side, but same results. Reinstalled Evolution, no change
yes, I checked gitlab.gnome.org

Try refreshing the page. If that does not help, you may still be able to use Mastodon through a different browser or native app."

Once upon a time there were three brothers who were knights
in a certain kingdom. And, there was a Princess in a neighboring kingdom
who was of marriageable age. Well, one day, in full armour, their horses,
and their page, the three brothers set off to see if one of them could
win her hand. The road was long and there were many obstacles along the
way, robbers to be overcome, hard terrain to cross. As they coped with
each obstacle they became more and more d…

Good Morning #Canada
You don't have to like numbers to appreciate Statistics Canada, aka StatsCan. Jean Talon could be considered Canada's first official statistician when he arrived in North America in 1665 on a mission for King Louis XIV to conduct Canada's first census in 1666. In 1918, the Statistics Act created the Dominion Bureau of Statistics, a national statistics office that ultimately would become Statistics Canada. Besides conducting the Census of Population and the Census of Agriculture every five years, StatCan has more than 450 active surveys on virtually all aspects of life in Canada. Results are published twice a month and can be accessed via The Daily web page.
One of my favourite web pages is Canada's Population Clock (real-time model). It's fascinating to watch, and our population increased by 11 while I typed this post.

This is frustrating because the unnamed people advising that were wrong. It confuses trapping page focus in a modal to blocking users from using the rest of their browser. Also, ugh APG.
css-tricks.com/there-is-no-nee

And I was surprised — accessibility advice around modals have commonly taught us to trap focus within the modal. So this seems wrong to me.
Upon further research, it seems like we no longer need to trap focus within the <dialog> (even in modal mode). So, the focus-trapping is deprecated advice if you use <dialog>.

wiki_talk: Wikipedia talk networks
Interactions among users of 10 language-specific Wikipedias: Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Nodes are registered wiki editors, and an edge represents a user i having written a message on user j's talk page. Edges are timestamped. The precise dates of the snapshots are uncertain.
This network has 519403 nodes and 6729794 edges.

edit_wikinews: Wikipedia news edits (2010)
Two bipartite user-page networks extracted from Wikipedia, about news events. A user connects to a page if that user edited that page. Edits (edges) are timestamped. Edge weights represent counts of the number of edits.
This network has 8000 nodes and 50296 edges.
