A brown tabby cat snuggling in my lap as I sat on the back porch this afternoon drinking a big tumbler of coffee. She’s a feral but has recently become super friendly, I guess 10+ years of feeding her paid off

I have a family of magpies that often visit while I'm having breakfast on the front porch. This one wants to see what the rest of the house is like. #magpie

An old friend of mine is wondering what that thingy with the red squiggly lines on it does. This is a motion sensor device to turn on a porch light. #FediHelp

Today, Frank the neighborhood squirrel had to rap his paw on the backdoor window a couple times because I was late to feed him this morning.
His daily breakfast of walnuts is what brings him to our porch.

"A woman was watching from her porch. Someone ran up and addressed her: “Ma’am, we’re out here defending the neighborhood against ICE. We need barricade materials. Is there anything in your yard you wouldn’t mind parting with?” She nodded urgently and showed them to her backyard, offering a flower bed, an old couch, and a lawn chair. Three people helped to carry these out and add them to the barricades."

Daughter measured the snow accumulation on her back porch. Only 61cm. This is an amazing photo because I didn't think my son-in-law had any tools.

#cat

A brown and white cat on my back porch. It was eating until it became aware of my presence at the window; now it stares at me as if to say, “can’t you see I’m busy here?” The cat is clean and healthy looking but has no collar, I don’t know where it came from.

A core problem of #ecommerce especially with small business is always about what happens when you ship to someone and the package goes missing.
Should the business be responsible?
Most consumers of course say yes.
But as a small business, why is a package stolen on a porch the responsability of the retailer, and not the home insurance?
I see arguments on both s…

Izzy thinks it’s too cold and the snow is too deep, even though a few minutes ago she was insisting that we needed to go on a walk. Got her down to the sidewalk, but we have 7 or 8 inches of snow and sleet is still coming down. She ran back up the stairs and stood on the porch shivering. #DogsOfMastodon

For this #Caturday, the #feral #cat who lives out back visited my lap again 😻 None of my indoor kitties have ever been lap cats, so to have the outside cat nap there is a real gift.

I’m sitting outside on the back porch and a brown feral tabby cat is in my lap. She’s curled up, her eyes are heavy, and she’s kneading dough (with claws very much out, not pictured)

Scenes from #Memphis buried in #snow, #ice, and #sleet.

An accretion of sleet and ice coats the ground in Memphis, Tennessee, January 26, 2026. Here at the intersection of Germantown Parkway and Macon Road in Cordova, the Whataburger sign stands out with its signature orange against whited-out pavement. "24 hours," it says, but not this day.
An accretion of sleet and ice coats the ground in Memphis, Tennessee, January 28, 2026. Larger chunks, pickaxed from a giant drift, are visible to the rear. In the distance, trees and blue sky.
The Antarctic surface glistens in brilliant white -- oh, no, that's not right. An accretion of sleet and ice coats the ground in Memphis, Tennessee, January 28, 2026. Large chunks, pickaxed from a giant drift, are perched atop a base layer. The sun casts shadows from the ice.
A brown tabby cat is laying on my lap on the back porch. She's gazing off to the right of the frame. Snow-covered ground is visible beyond us.
