If you're organising an event with an open call, I can't recommend @… enough for managing the process. Free/open source and so much easier than 'easychair' and anything else I've had to use.
So Bitvise, the developer of an SSH client that competes with PuTTY, the widely-used open-source SSH and Telnet client, somehow got hold of the domain putty.org and is using it to promote its own products.
Here's how Bitvise responded to a tech blogger/journalist who wrote about this situation.

As we're getting more into hikes around our new home – and I record tracks of them to also improve #openstreetmap – I've made a #wanderer profile at @… to share some nice trails.
It's an open source trail/track sharing platform that's federated thanks to #ActivityPub, so if you can read this post, you can follow my profile there too!*
* that is except you read this through the bridge to BlueSky, then you're out of luck and should give the actual Fediverse another try 😉

I've spent little to no time on Mastodon in the last few weeks, let alone posting...
The reason has been the illness and then death of my beloved dog “Sam”, aka “Unixdog”, which has left me pretty broken up.
The grief is still not out of my heart, and it doesn't look like things are getting better at the moment, but I will try to bring normality back into my life and thus post Linux and Open Source related topics here again.
And I hope that Sam is doing well in dog…

As I've seen a good number of people here post about "Worktree.ca" as a "Canadian-owned" alternative to GitHub: it's a closed-source fork of Gitea which "one day" (maybe, if the company doesn't change its mind) will be open core. It also runs on AWS…
Not that it's any of my business, but migrating there feels like the code-equivalent of leaving Twitter for Bluesky: Moving from one company-owned walled garden to the next, without having learned a lesson. All painted in a nationalist cash grab. 🤷♂️
