Sometimes I do things that I’m proud of. Sometimes, not always. Maybe I just have high standards set for myself…I don’t know.
Then there are people who are proud of their country and all they ever did was be born there, which wasn’t even their choice really.
Those people are psychopaths.
Pride should come from the actions you take, not your surrounding circumstances.

We got back a week ago from a two week vacation in Central America. We started with 3 days in San Jose, Costa Rica, went on a 7 day cruise from Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica, to Colon Panama. If you're thinking wait, those are in different oceans! You would be correct, our Ship, the Star Pride (Small ship, 300 guests), transited through the Panama Canal. There's no thought being given at all to the violent dangerous hatred the ICE account will spread to those who don't block it, and the consequent radicalisation. Today I have procrastinated by rearranging books. I have far too many for such a small house.
(Doing this reminded me of a piece by a #Palestinian academic I read recently. He has just started teaching again, but all his books have been lost or destroyed. To be without my books would be very hard for me)

Non work thinking books, a very miscallaneous collection. In front of them are a trans pride flag, my practice sword, and my longbow.
Books which are being evicted from my bedroom, roughly organised into loose piles on my bed.
The fiction bookshelf — an extraordinarily catholic collection, each volume of which I have some reason for keeping (not all of them are good!)
Mostly-work thinking books (there's also a collection of Scots politics books top right, which overflowed from somewhere else)

Good Morning #Canada
I spent the weekend with my youngest daughter and she mentioned that the non-profit she works for, #RainbowRailroad, had launched a new website. Despite the fact that she refuses to join Mastodon, I thought I'd give her organization some Fediverse love. Rainbow Railroad literally saves #LGBTQ lives through counseling, support and emergency evacuation from hostile countries. They have assisted 45,000 individuals since their founding in 2006.
The other charitable organization we support is the Canadian Cancer Society, specifically focused on #BreastCancer because our oldest daughter is a survivor. She also works in non-profit, writing grant and funding proposals for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto. I might have to dedicate a Good Morning post for her work just to be fair.
There's definitely some humble bragging and parental pride this morning, sorry for that. But they both do important work that benefits many others.
