#nommention

Like all the politicians, transphobes, Nazis, Project 2025 authors, corporate spokespeople, and architects of genocide that American news media have allowed to say whatever they want sans pushback, printing whatever a chatbot says is a recipe for fundamentally destroying a news outlet’s credibility.
Briefly tabling the question of legality, of which I believe this to be a completely indefensible & illegal action, anyone even superficially versed in US history knows that the US has an inglorious track record of failures in attempting regime changes.
If the rationale wasn’t clear or defensible, how well thought out will the next steps be? This president is not exactly known for having detailed plans.

Idiocy. Georgia's touchscreens are BALLOT MARKING DEVICES that print out a human-readable, electronically readable paper ballot The ballots then are fed to a machine counter whose accuracy is WAY better than humans. Hand-marked paper ballots are a recipe for chaos.

Do you enjoy flavors that are like a sock filled with pennies delivered directly to your lower jaw? Is Anchorage, Alaska in reach for you? Or can you afford to order tea on the Internet? Good news! Go to `The Kobuk` and buy this! And if you can't get to Alaska, buy some SERIOUS black tea (Barry's, etc., not your weak American bullshit, or use like 4 bags bullshit/cup) a…
I used the recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction (using cooked.wiki) and they turned out great!
Nice crispy tops, though I had about half of the brown sugar/cinnamon mix left, as it seemed like way too much.
I didn't have sour cream or plain yogurt but I did have blueberry yogurt, so that seemed appropriate. I used oat milk because that's all we have in the house.
I normally do not use liners but I did this time.
Not surprised. I found stuff that looked great. I am fairly experienced at baking and part of them didn't turn out. Going over them afterwards I should have clued in on the temperatures for the candies. I have made fudges and candies for decades and thought maybe they knew something that I didn't. They turned out to be almost as runny as cold syrup and will be used as a topping for fruit cake with ice cream.

The first seems underspiced/undercheesed but the second one looks interesting. I am suspicious of any Mac & Cheese recipe that does not require the creation of a proper bechamel-based cheese sauce. The 2 methods here (both basically creating the sauce as part of the bake) make me very nervous.
OTOH, I do like the concept of not fretting over a sauce. I am intrigued by the concept of saucing uncooked pasta before baking… @…
SF politics is supposed to be a knife fight in a phone booth, but I don't see that energy from transit/safe-streets orgs that should be calling out Daniel Lurie on his carbrain. They're all trying to suck up to him for access instead. Seems like a recipe for failure. #sfpol

This is one of the ones I have been making for decades. Overwhelming number of times it turns out. The one I was trying didn't get the temperatures right and they said to use whipping cream (1 full cup at that) instead of milk. For cooling I put my pot on a rack and let it slowly chill. The recipe said to put it in a bowl of ice cold water which I did and let it get to 115 before beating like they called for. They also said to get it to 240 before chilling. They should have been r…

Short progress update of refining my Kallitype recipe & workflow:
- Left: a couple of months ago, initial homemade formula, very rusty brown, blotchy and low contrast
- Middle: mid December, double coating, no more staining, better contrast, but not fully cleared emulsion
- Right: last night, pre-wetting plus ammonium dichromate (1 drop) for much better contrast, perfect clearing (without any masking)
Progress! 🤩
The holidays may be over, but I’ve worked up a technique for a single-serve egg nog that I’m quite proud of. Using a milk frother wand can really mimic the thick foamy texture of the (non-alcoholic) large batch recipe I grew drinking every Christmas, better than a cocktail shaker
