Schön, dass auf der #museumdigital User:innentagung auch explizit #RSS-Feeds als Tool für die Kommunikation beworben werden!
Programm zur Tagung:
I want to read RSS feeds on my Browser natively
@… another bug report/suggestion, two actually.
#1: comma separated tags/categories in RSS feeds aren't interpreted as separate tags, but as one big long tag
#2: possibly add hashtag search to bridgy web. you can retrieve a list of posts matching a searched hashtag from most instances (iirc), it might be nice to set this up for …

Child harm/death mention; Columbus
On Indigenous People's Day here in America, it's a great time to:
1. Remember that Columbus was a monster. Anyone who feeds toddlers to dogs actually deserves to burn in hell for eternity. Nothing else about this man should be remembered before this fact.
2. If you're in a colonized country, check out the website(s) for your local indigenous tribe (s) to remind yourself that they're still here. For me, that includes #LandBack, etc.
Me, I'm hopeful for a future in which the US is a distant memory and the hundreds of surviving nations on this territory flourish like budding plants after the winter snow.
The best part about @… is that every search has it's own RSS feed.

I love looking at Streetwear fashion photography... does anyone have any links to some?
I realise that there's a few feeds on Instagram, but I'm not interested in any Zuck platforms thanks.

Irgendwie ist die Anzahl der Leute in meinen Feeds, die grade aus USA nach DE ziehen bzw. zurückziehen, in den letzten Monaten stark nach oben gegangen. Woran das wohl liegt…
I want a #Mastodon client that drip-feeds me posts from prolific posters. I've followed two accounts that boost cool stuff but they are doing 40 posts a day. After finishing up my timeline I refresh and there are a dozen more posts. That's not sustainable for a healthy social media diet (for me - YMMV!). I'd like something that would hold back posts for 2 hours and then only show me…

Here's a quote from HuffPost:
"According to Bluesky analytics site VQV, the official White House account quickly became the platform’s second-most blocked profile, with around 95,000 users smashing the block button to presumably preempt their feeds being filled with AI slop and divisive rants.
"The only account with more blocks on the platform is Vice President JD Vance, who’s been blocked by more than 167,000 users since joining in June."
Perhaps future work should focus on establishing trusted enclaves of knowledge and expertise.
If you’re a knowledge worker, perhaps sharing your knowledge publicly isn’t the best idea anymore. It’s a real bummer because it makes knowledge a luxury of the elite and wealthy.
Rather than working directly on the thing, you focus on the data that feeds into the machine that works on “the thing”. :\

This week's Mindscape podcast is with Petter Törnberg who has been running agent based simulated social networks to try and figure out why they're so divisive and polarizing.
His models do apparently capture these features of the networks which promote the most popular posts to everyone.
Sad to learn that simply using chronological feeds apparently not only doesn't help he reckons it makes things worse!
Maybe his agent's just aren't smart enough to follow the right people, but then probably nor are mere humans.

Spent the evening improving my #RSS setup by getting more into the possibilities of https://www.freshrss.org/:
Thanks to its support for web scraping, I've now managed to get the full text of articles, instead of just the snippets, of @… en español into my reader.
And even managed to get BBC Mundo scraped into it through the scraping, despite @… unfortunately not providing any official feeds for the Spanish-language news at all.
