Security Baked Into the JVM: sixteen Subjects on the wire
Alice calls the order service. The order service calls the ledger on her behalf. At the second hop, the ledger has to decide whose authority the debit is being made under. Most stacks answer badly. Forward Alice’s bearer token verbatim, and the ledger cannot tell her from the service that relayed it. Drop the token and the ledger sees a machine, with no record that a human started the chain. Neither option lets the ledger authorize the combination.

A few highlights from the Turkish-Persian section of a random carpet symbolism book I skimmed while stopped at a random library in New Jersey a couple days ago

Tree of life: one of the oldest and most universal symbols of mankind. It supports the sky, and provides a path from earth to heaven. In different cultures it is called by names such as haoma, asherak, yggdrasil, irminsu or asvattha. Thus, one often sees it in prayer rugs, as a reminder of the passage from this existence into a higher life.
Diamond or Lozenge: It has been conjectured that this omnipresent motif in Anatolian kilims is a male triangle attached to a female triangle, and thus signifies creation. There are doubtless many interpretations. A diamond surrounded by hooks is called in Turkish kirkbudatz, 'forty branches'. In Part 1, the minimal deployment showed constraints traveling with the proxy: authentication, encryption, hardened deserialization, all declared in configuration and enforced at the call boundary. The proxy is a JAR. That JAR was downloaded and unmarshalled before any constraint ran. That step is the earlier problem. Distributed Java systems that load remote code are vulnerable to supply chain compromise: an attacker can replace a legitimate JAR with one containing malicious bytecode.

Went and saw my oldest friend playing some harmonies and folks songs with his sister in law and her niece as 'seahouses', at a local open mic night.
Well, local to him. Utterly the opposite side of the city and a three hour round-trip for me. 🙄
Probably haven't seen the sister-in-law for twenty years, or met any of her kids before. They are beautiful and apparently know me by reputation, if only that song on their wedding video.
Been to a few of these sorts of folk open-mic nights with my parents years ago. Mostly a small number of regulars who play some songs for each other every week. They're good fun. Some community there. Should probably do that sort of thing more, only, somewhere this side of town.
Not quite tempted to join in. Would need to plan and rehearse, and probably take the loop pedal these days. Ain't that spontaneous. And all I've been playing for weeks and weeks is just the Red Dwarf theme over and over for some reason. Badly. The neighbors probably hate me.
Anyway, Sea Houses were chill and fun and sang more sweetly and harmoniously than I ever did.
