The return of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes in the theaters was NOT on my bingo card. 😁

Now, one thing i truly hate about #GrapheneOS updates is the Microsoft-like approach where you can't "just" disable automatic updates.
Yeah, I get it. The updates are important. The updates have been rock solid so far. And anyway, I need to reboot manually for them to actually start applying.
Still, it's so damn disrespectful for developers to make this decision for me, and have the phone start automatically updating just as I'm about to leave for the whole day, and turn my phone into a potential time bomb where a reboot could leave me without a working phone until I can get home and reflash it.
Yes, there's a bunch of options to disable updates based on Internet connection type, battery state and whether the phone is charging. Still, why should I need to explain myself to my phone?! Really, this isn't what we dumped Microsoft for.
Ryan Coogler is doing the X-Files reboot, and Gillian Anderson might return. Missed this from May. Wild

I have lots of reactions about Dr Who, the predominant one at the end is RTD saying "You want a reboot suckers, I'll give you a fucking reboot, give me your money!"
The spirit of the original is strong in him.
Simultaneously wiping out the Timeless Child hoohah and reincarnating The Rani and Omega.
That's the way to do it.

Progress today. I got ansible working with the vmware inventory, and managed to solve the old (v8) machines complaints about python. New update script completed that takes snapshots, checks RHEL or Debian base and does update/reboot. All in all, successful day. And during all that, I got XCP-ng working. No VMs on it yet, but the system is ready for messing with finally. #ansible
Finally getting around to updating all the servers in the #homelab to fix the `sudo` vulnerability. Kinda of a pain, but almost done. It really helps hosting the repos locally...lol
The one thing I really like about #GrapeneOS system upgrades is that they're done entirely in the background (or maybe all new Android systems do that?). I no longer need to reboot into recovery, then be locked out of the phone for a few minutes while the upgrade is installing. Instead, it gets installed without blocking anything, and I only need to reboot to switch to the new version.
Yep, seems like different parts of the Fosstodon mod team just keep doubling down on "we are apolitical" – as if that was a real thing and not just reinforcing the existing power and abuse…
And in true fashion for FOSS priorities, the admin can't seem to get a statement out as it's more important to first pick a blogging platform.
This could fit into a FOSS-centric reboot of that Silicon Valley comedy show if it wasn't so sad 😅

I’ve never seen this memory issue on #MacOS before. I had left Safari with Mela’s share sheet/importer app snippet open overnight and came back to a nearly unresponsive computer. I assume one of these has a memory leak. I was able to reboot via the shell using SSH from another device.
If any fysh.org users are following, yes, it's currently down.
1. We had another slew of memory errors caught in the last hour.
2. I initiated an emergency reboot to see if that cleared them.
3. It failed on boot on first attempt, kernel panic.
4. After a reset it came up, including running the user-visible VMs (river etc), but is still logging a slew of memory errors.
5. So I've now shutdown the VMs again.
We'll be poking the service provider to s…
Half a point for Linode: Gave a time in UTC, but still used god forsaken middle endian date format.
Below is the scheduled reboot timeline for your instance(s):

I just had to reboot my fridge by power cycling it.
This is not the future I wanted!
Conservatives Are Losing It Over Superman’s Basic Morality

S02E11 of #TheSandman felt like watching the entire symbolic burial of Neil Gaiman - farewell cookie fortune and all - just so DC could retain the option to a reboot, at least for some of the characters. But it was a straight up Viking funeral.
Wow, they're cancelling that Perfect Dark reboot? It looked so good, though?

pro tip: add this to your .bashrc (or similar shell setup script) on hosts that matter:
alias reboot='echo "really? use systemctl reboot instead"'
Prevented me from rebooting the main server instead of the VM I actually wanted to reboot :)
My first thought about the running man reboot was "How do you do it without Richard Dawson?"
How often do you have to reboot your ISP connection?

The joy of an OS where you need to make a todo list of folder names to change after the next reboot, because *some* obscure process has something open within that folder and prevents the user from renaming or deleting that folder if the system been running for long enough.
Too bad that you can't test the theme feature of #GNOME on a live distro since setting up "gnome-shell-extensions" requires a reboot to enable it.
Edit: it wasn't the "gnome-shell-extensions", reboot was required for enabling "User Themes" (via Extensions).
However, a logout/login was OK as well and it did work on my Debian live distro again (logout do…
Slackpkg: you have two versions of the same file (kernel-generic 6.15.8 & 6.16), what do you want to do?
R (remove) or I (ignore)?
Me: R of course!
Slackpkg: selects both
Me: hits Enter
Reboot: there's no kernel image to be found 🤪
A few minutes later...
Me: reboots into live iso, mount and chroot, reinstall kernel, generate grub, reboot, all good.
There's no limit to my stupidity 😂
I think we need to reboot the video games industry to Pong.

I'm so bloody excited for the Naked Gun reboot, Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson is perfect casting and Akiva Schaffer as director and writer is perfect, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is one of the best comedies of the 2010s.
Nope. Not all sunshine.
If you miss a dependency on Slackware, specifically install it, reboot and still no go.

What I have also come to appreciate about my lean Debian stable is that there are no updates every day (or even several times a day) that require a reboot. As is the case with Fedora or Arch. I also find this very pleasant because it doesn't constantly interrupt my work. Yes, comfort comes with age.

Wow the Paramount streaming service reboot looks amazing.
