I am a sucker for mythic motives, playing with fantasy themes; the polyharmonic singing. It's not the fun song of a young man leaving for the city and selling his cow, but a powerful folk-inspired anti-war ballad, deeply steeped in local history.

@tiotasram@kolektiva.socialJust finished "My Perfectly Imperfect Body" by Debbie Tung, a graphic memoir about dealing with disordered eating as a teenage girl. Similar themes to Hungry Ghost, except without as much of a family factor, and it's more direct. We get to hear the author's perspective as an adult at the end, including some good body-positive messages and thought patterns, even as she acknowledges the struggle necessary to climb out of body despair.
