1/ My daughter had a friend over for a sleepover on Saturday night. This was huge as my daughter has been refusing to sleep at my house for over a year now. Despite me telling the girls that they’re only to do makeup at the dining table, they did it in the living room, staining some of the furniture. What’s worse is that my daughter snuck a UV lamp in to my house and did both their nails with that which I doubt her friend’s mum will be happy about. I’m fuming as I explicitly forbade tha…

Popular media shows Santa's sleigh as red no matter which way it's flying, or even when it's standing still.
It's not. When it's parked, it's green. But most observers only see it flying away after making a delivery, hence the red shift.
And if you're lucky to see it inbound it's blue with a hint of UV-A. Wear sunglasses.

Long winter nights, red light on, UV burner on... So have missed making my own prints, and so glad to be able to pick this up again (and also working with older techniques, which are new to me), all after more than three decades... Still some more kinks to work out before I can share some proper prints, e.g. experimenting with different exposure times, toners (gold/selenium), fixers, concentrations... All very much like a science experiment and meticulous log keeping has been key (as have be…

I've been away from Python for a bit, and project setup seems to have advanced a lot from one obviously correct way to do things. Where there was setuptools pip pip-tools venv, there is now `uv`, `pixi`, `poetry`, `pdm`, more?
Maybe because it's not obvious because I'm not dutch?
Any suggestion for a project that includes a little cython that is slowly being replaced with some maturin/pyo3 parts?
If you're using #lazyblorg as your static website generator: I've updated the project today.
It now used "uv" for dependency management, script invocation and unit test execution. Furthermore, I adapted the code to match the #pandoc version of Debian 13 Trixie.

I've released 2.14.0 of build-and-inspect-python package; your friendly GitHub Action that prevents embarrassing PyPI uploading mistakes.
Main reason for a rather rushed release is that some people seem to get Python 3.14 when asking GHA for `3.x`.
