These were my favorite movies of 2025. Pretty much all horror, sci-fi, comedy. There's still a couple I need to see from this year (Cold Storage!) but these are all my favorites as of now.

1) Emissions of greenhouse gases are still rising
2) The degree of decoupling is far from enough
3) for the United Kingdom, the reduction 2015-2023 was -18.41%, average
-2.51% per year. To reach net zero emissions by 2050, an annual reduction of 10% is needed.
4) Those decoupling countries are not compensating for the growth in emissions elsewhere.

The ocean conservation world has lost a giant. Kristina Gjerde, known as the "mother of the high seas," spent two decades building the coalitions that led to the historic 2023 UN High Seas Treaty—protecting biodiversity in international waters for the first time.
Her work became urgent as industrial activities threatened deep-sea ecosystems. She was 68.

I guess it depends on the language. I use polars heavily with Python. It works really really well. It's not just faster than pandas, it's more ergonomic, more regular, more composable and less quirky.

Begin 2022 was ik kandidaat-raadslid voor GroenLinks en heb ik het initiatief genomen om samen met een aantal andere kandidaat-raadsleden meerdere winddelen bij De Windcentrale aan te schaffen. just looking at my archive of postgresql backups over the past 2 years of my mastodon instance.
In December 2023 just shy of 1 year since spinning it up, the compressed gz file of the database was 600MB.
By Aug 2024 it was 988MB
In April 2025 it was 1500MB
Today it is 1800MB.
That is a 2 user instance. Not small!
