As an interesting aside here, this would mean that Hawaii would technically return to a monarchy since the kingdom has been illegally occupied since 1893 and the promise of returning sovereignty has never been fulfilled.

The israeli-american genocide of the Palestinian people continues. It’s not just israel. It was never just israel.
“‘This is an administration that is committed to Palestinian erasure, both physical and political,’ Elgindy said. ‘The signs were there even in the first Trump term, which nominally supported a Palestinian ‘state’ that was shorn of all sovereignty and under permanent Israeli control. At least now they’ve abandoned the pretense.’

Trump’s second term is already a constitutional demolition derby:

I don't usually advocate for an outcome like this... but this time I am because really the question isn't about the CBC. It's about Canadian sovereignty. Trump should have no part of any decision in Canada, period. So whether you love the CBC or not, the only correct answer here is No because we should never allow a foreign dictator to make decisions for us.

Digital sovereignty can’t be bargained away. The European Commission has tools, public support and a mandate to act on Big Tech. Trading that away for short-term calm would be a costly mistake.

SIGN THE PETITION: PROTECT HUMAN RIGHTS. STOP BILL C-2
Prime Minister Mark Carney ran a campaign on leading Canada through Trump’s tariffs & attacks on sovereignty & a cost-of-living crisis. Instead, his first piece of legislation, Bill C-2, is an attack on migrants & privacy rights straight out of the Trump playbook.
Bill C-2 drastically restricts refugee protection, allows for mass deportations & gives security officials unchecked power to access everyone’s data…
Great blog about EuroStack, we need to BUILD !
"We need to think about this first and foremost as an industrial project. With some public support but one where “industry” (the supply side) needs to be given the incentive to build, and the opportunity to scale and expand. We don’t need more “events” and pensive stuff about “our European values” and “democracy” around digital sovereignty. Industry should do its thing, or nothing will happen. Wake up."

Folks in NZ are starting to realise the implications of the impending EOL of Microsoft Windows 10 for our education system. In its finite wisdom, our MinOfEd has effectively locked all schools into either the use of MS Windows or Google ChromeOS. Both have fundamental issues like endless license hassles, EOLing OSs, ending support for Window or ChromeOS on specific computer models, etc. And that doesn't even start to talk about digital colonisation & sovereignty (see

So, fellow citizens, I ask you:

European countries have been growing increasingly wary of relying on Microsoft for critical government and public sector services.
Concerns about data privacy, digital sovereignty, and potential governmental surveillance have led many to question the viability of depending on an American tech giant for sensitive infrastructure.
Many worry that dependence on Microsoft could leave them vulnerable to sudden service interruptions or the risk of sensitive data being accessed without …

Put away pipelines, go with grids!
By David Suzuki with contributions from Senior Editor and Writer Ian Hanington
It’s good to see ideas such as increasing self-sufficiency and diversifying trade partners emerging in response to U.S. attacks on Canada’s economy and threats to our sovereignty. As usual, though, the fossil fuel industry and its supporters are taking advantage of this “crisis” to push for more oil and gas infrastructure, particularly pipelines.

Make no mistake. This is a USA automaker and oil company hit job on the independence and sovereignty of the Canadian economy.
They are trying to reverse the inevitable so they can continue their own businesses as usual for as long as possible.
It can't be allowed to happen. Canada is already lagging far behind other nations. Our Economy and our Society and our burning forests, will suffer if our government gives in to this pressure.
