(2) Please note that the supposed “fraud” is a small kernel of genuine concern wrapped in a massive blanket of bullshit. It cannot be repeated often enough. Because the actual amount of fraud is greater than zero, reporters keep making a show of Taking It Very Seriously — but when the actual fraud is…what, 1% the size of BS they’re making up??…well, taking it more than 1% seriously is a failure of reporting.

That was slightly more drama updating to Mastodon v4.5.0 than I wanted.
The OS restarted while the database migration was in progress so I had to restore the database from backups.
Except this took some time because of the size of the database and the fact that the backup software I have for the #PostgreSQL server needs to rewrite the entire database to restore older versions.

OK, I think I have a reasonably efficient table driven implementation of the 100baseTX scrambler LFSR, capable of predicting future scrambler states with offsets of up to 2^30-1 in constant time.
I still don't grok the math. I ended up doing this by essentially bruteforcing the algebraic solution, creating a class representing a 11th-order polynomial with boolean coefficients symbolically and evaluating the LFSR in a loop 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. times.

A federal judge in Chicago on Wednesday ordered authorities to improve conditions at an immigration detention facility
after detainees sued,
alleging they were held in “inhumane” conditions.
The temporary order,
which applies to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview,
a suburb west of Chicago,
