Went to La’ Shukran for the first time last night and both the cocktails (especially with arak) and the food were fantastic.

A pink hued cocktail on a brass colored bar with a bunch of mint. The cocktail has arak and tequila and sumac. Very refreshing.
A cocktail in a low goblet. The cocktail is golden in color and has blended scotch whisky and arak, a combo which was amazing.
A plate of escargot on a bed of hummus. The snails are covered in a green herb and garlic sauce. I can’t stop thinking about how good this was.
Leg of lamb kibbeh nayeh. Traditionally this is made with lamb and burgul and spices, but here it takes on a more traditional tartare style with mustard seeds and an egg yolk. The plate is covered with a crispy bread.

Fun things to play on bass that aren't really basslines: _Clockwork_ from Castlevania 3. Had to get this written down so I could figure it out but it's friggin' blast...still working on speed though.

About 8 bars from Clockwork from Castlevania 3...well, the fun part anyway. Still very much incomplete.

Finished “Lonely Castle in the Mirror” by Mizuki Tsujimura. Seven unrelated students struggling with going to middle school discover a glowing mirror in each their bedrooms, allowing transit to a mysterious castle.
A richly developed plot, good pacing, and very distinctive characters.

Bixby Bridge in Big Sur California
-- Today
-- and as rapidly built by the WPA in 1932 (top: August & bottom: October)
-- The canyon at the north end is so steep you can't see the bottom here, but Lawrence Ferlinghetti had a cabin there (where Jack Kerouac stayed in 1961)

A stunning coastal landscape featuring Bixby Bridge spanning a canyon, surrounded by lush green hills. The ocean is visible below, with a sandy beach nearby and a clear blue sky above, scattered with clouds.
The image features two historical photographs of bridge construction.
The top image shows timber false-work for an arch span, labeled as 320 feet wide and 260 feet high, taken in August 1932.
The bottom image displays a completed bridge in October 1932
A concrete bridge spans a deep canyon, surrounded by lush green hills and rocky terrain. The landscape features various plant life, with a clear blue sky above. A cable runs across the image, adding to the sense of height and depth.
