Not sure what to make of this survey given its sponsors, but it's true that water management in the UK is a mess. We have no clue who's using what. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/nov/30/water-shortages-could-derai…

we should definitely be focusing on Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS, not CCS like the PM calls it) and new oil pipelines and not utility scale battery systems on our electrical grids.

Fossil fuel industry's 'climate false solutions' reinforce its power, aggravate environmental injustice, study suggests https://phys.org/news/2025-12-fossil-fuel-industry-climate-false.html
This week: MIT cuts carbon capture energy costs, transparent window insulation slashes building heating use, and battery prices drop enough to make solar-plus-storage competitive at $65/MWh.
In South Australia, a 200 MW battery will help stabilize the grid for more renewables. Progress is happening now.

Colorado just released a roadmap for coal communities facing an uncertain future.
The state's new report shows how carbon capture, geothermal, hydrogen, and battery storage could replace lost coal jobs and tax revenue in rural areas. Wind and solar are already cost-effective, while emerging tech could create new economic opportunities.

CCS does not look like you may think💨🏭
Carbon Capture and Storage is certainly one of the more controversial technologies to mitigate climate change.
When I observe discussions about it, I am often frustrated.
Sometimes, I feel we're talking about entirely different worlds of CCS. One is the world of ideas that people may have about what CCS might look like.
The other is how actual CCS projects look in the real world.🧵
You are going to hear alot about a multi billion dollar greenwash--- err "carbon capture" project that oilsands companies will be "required"
to use/invest in as a quid pro quo for a NWBC oil pipeline.
Ya no. FN in Cold Lake says no thanks.
Take your fake-capture grift somewhere else.

Europe just opened major funding for industrial decarbonization—clean hydrogen, net zero manufacturing, carbon capture.
Carbon removal is scaling too: 268,000 tonnes contracted in November across biochar, direct air capture, and biomass. Real projects, real revenue.

The carbon removal market is heating up fast.
This week alone saw major companies signing CDR purchase agreements, new breakthroughs in biogenic CO2 capture and storage, and over 1,000 companies tapping into market intelligence platforms.
Fresh research on biochar and weathering is out, plus a new legal framework report showing how serious the industry has become about scaling durable carbon removal.
Details of the MOU as reported by CBC. Hot Take:
It's a sh_t show of oil soaked hopeium and climate defeatism.
- Shovels in Ground by 2029 *(may this be forever extended)
- Tanker Ban will be lifted if the project is approved by MPO *(Coastal First Nations setting rhetorical fire to MPO in 3-2-1)
- July 1, 2026 deadline for submission to MPO *(OIL CANADA DAY)
- 75% methane emissions cut on 2014 levels from methane by 2035 *(*shaking head* We are VERY GOOD at hitting 10 year targets *shaking head*)
- "both sides commited to net-zero by 2050” (implied via CCS) *(carbon capture and storage? should be Carney Can't Stop -- Emissions)
- industrial carbon price of $130 -- down from $170

Since multiple Ottawa CBC reporters seem utterly incapable of understanding what First Nations groups are what in BC here are some facts about the Coastal First Nations. It has existed since 2003.
https://coastalfirstnations.ca/about/
"The Great Bear Initiative Society (a non-profit society under the BC Societies Act), also known as Coastal First Nations-Great Bear Initiative (CFN), is an alliance of First Nations on the North Pacific Coast that includes the Gitga’at, Gitxaała, Haida, Heiltsuk, Kitasoo Xai’xais, Metlakatla, Nuxalk and Wuikinuxv First Nations. " Their territories span on the mainland coast of BC from the top of Vancouver Island to the Alaska Border including Haida Gwaii.

This is so damning. The top of the CBC story (JP Tasker reporting)
“Smith said she got Carney to back down on most of the Trudeau-era "nine bad laws," as she calls them, that restricted oil and gas development in Alberta.
Carney, meanwhile, says he got Alberta to buy into the Pathways carbon capture project to try and decarbonize the oil pumped out of the province.”
It would be like Putin saying he got Zelenskyy to back down on Donbas and Crimea, but Zelenskyy says Putin agreed to security guarantees from Russia and the USA.
Carney = Capitulator
Also... YOU CAN'T DECARBONIZE OIL.
ffs. what a stupid statement.
Maybe Putin will De-TNT his Ballistic Missiles.
