Rapid7 finds eight vulnerabilities, including one remotely-exploitable flaw that cannot be fixed via firmware patch, affecting 689 models of Brother printers (Jess Weatherbed/The Verge)

Upgraded to an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU recently, just in time for the latest stable Linux firmware to be wonky with an amdgpu. Oh well, I'm accustomed to the song and dance of downgrading / pulling git branches for stability on #linux, and dabbling with the pro drivers.
And yes, that 4TB mount point is for

So, my Valve Index arrived. As you may know, it officially supports Linux.
It works, sort of, but dear god what a mess that was to get working.
Within the span of one evening, I have seen it all: GPU freezing, failing to aquire a DRM lease, firmware updates crashing, latency, and some weird swap chain flickering issue.
It works, though. On Linux. And I have a plethora of paths to get it perfect. This weekend will be awesome.

girl who flirts with you by sending you drone parts (with firmware to extract and reverse-engineer)
1. To continue using this software/device you must update the firmware.
2. Download update.
3. Try to install update.
4. An unknown error occurred.
5. Go to 1.
Oh, interesting. After two days and two nights powered down in the cradle, on the third day it is risen!
Strange.
Maybe whatever controls the charging can drain from the battery even when it's at zero until even that bit of battery is also at zero and then that forces the firmware controlling the charging to reset?
Anyway. It seems to be alive again and now starts charging when put in the cradle properly.
So I guess it's back!

Last thing to do today accomplished: got the Allen&Heath CQ-12T mixer's firmware updated and now it works like it's supposed to under Linux. No more distortion/audio corruption which makes me happy. Absolutely love this mixer, but I hated having to wait for those kinds of issues to get fixed.

@… If I'm buying a drive for redumper (thanks to your excellent post for letting me know about it), do I need to get a drive with the exact firmware version, or will generally any version work? Thanks
So my Netgear ORBI router died after seven years. It always amazes me when a simple "board in a box" appliance with no moving parts suddenly fails. It's bricked, and the "corrupted firmware" LED blinks if you try and factory reset it. Why?
Only sign of visible stress are these metal boxes just before the antenna connections. Looks like they got a bit warm. Transformers? I suppose these could have shorted and taken something else with it.

“If it asks to update the firmware say no, and if they insist we’re going to scan from the Mac instead”.
Totally normal experience with modern printers 😐
I have two Celeron Chromeboxes that are out of support but it seems that they both can be flashed with standard UEFI firmware. Any ideas for a use case for a 10-12 year old mini PC?
The joy of trying to get the Z-axis endstop sensor to work, only to find out it's compiled in firmware as the probe and not documented anywhere.
So Z-endstop is not supported, but I can do autofokus by plugging the endstop and it will trigger the probe. The probe pin however dies nothing.
And though it's "open source", I can't find any documentation of how it is configured and compiled.
FluidNC would solve it all, but it doesn't work with esp32 …
