Lot of things I see kids do on these TV crime dramas (and it's TV, but much is based on real type events) I just can't imagine, this has to be some outlier shit. It makes me think maybe my friends growing up weren't as bad as they could've been. Because if anyone in our friend group had brought up ANYTHING like the shit some of these kids are doing, anyone I knew would've been like "get the fuck outta here". We didn't tolerate abusive shit. Maybe it was the …

The number of undocumented people held in immigration jails has exploded under Donald Trump’s brutal crackdown.
Despite polls showing growing public disgust with viral videos of heavily armed officers making violent arrests,
the administration is doubling down on policies aimed at filling immigration jails and detention camps with up to 100,000 people at any given time
— a massive expansion from the current incarcerating capacity of 41,500 people.

Ask yourself: How many water bottles thrown at cops are worth keeping one innocent American* teen out of inhumane #ICE detention?
For anyone criticizing the #LA protests or suggesting they should stop for any reason, let's be clear about the stakes. Read this article (or my summary):
abcnews.go.com/US/massachusett
This 18-year-old was snatched without a warrant, because he was in his dad's car and allegedly (possibly a lie or mistake) his dad drove recklessly. He's been in the US since he was 5, originally on a student visa that's since expired. He is an innocent American, by any reasonable definition of those two words*. Thankfully, he's since been released on bail, but he may yet be held indefinitely in ICE detention (in inhumane conditions that have been repeatedly documented) and/or separated from his family & friends and shipped off to Brazil where he last lived when he was 5 (ICE does not care whether he speaks Portuguese, has any family there, etc), all potentially without due process (though he seems to be getting that in this case). Even if this doesn't happen to Marcelo due to the media attention & protests, it is certainly happening to other innocent Americans throughout the country who aren't as lucky to have people standing up for them.
Here's Marcelo speaking about detention conditions and those he was detained with:
youtube.com/shorts/ZpZMUb9aEys
Do you know how many kids like Marcelo were detained in LA yesterday? Probably zero, because of the protests, including their confrontational tactics. The most "violence" I've seen (from the protestors) is throwing a water bottle at a line of heavily-armored riot police. So the protests are working to protect the community. If you're suggesting a change in tactics, consider whether your suggested tactics (like pre-scheduled non-confrontational protests that have been happening for weeks) will protect the Marcelos of LA.
*Whether he's innocent or American should not in fact matter, but sadly it might to some reading this. If that's you, you've still got some growing up to do.

My haul of ginger today, from a 40 cm (16 inch) pot on my front porch. I have another couple of plants growing in the garden, and from them I just dig up a bit when I want it. This potted one gets harvested all at once, to make pickled ginger (for rice paper rolls and sushi) and a shoot replanted in new compost each year. Such a lot, for so little space or effort. #retrosuburbia

We came across this humble establishment in Bradford that takes up 10 acres of growing and retail space. My wife said she has found her new favourite place. The white flowers in the new “alt-grass” have started to pop up in the front of the driveway (bottom right) and middle. Still patchy bits but nbd. And the taller stuff is now shading/protecting/cooling the smaller.
The front (bottom) that we seeded a few weeks after the initial planting is growing in nicely.
In a few weeks maybe we will get some poppies in the oldest areas.
Love this stuff!
We can start to walk on the older now, gently. Feels nice barefoot. Down to watering once a day, morning, unless it is over 30°C.
Intending to get more slate slabs next week, so I’ll put in a fourth step stone and probably move the one on the left back a few inches. I’ll try to be careful so I can transplant the grass to some of the patchy areas.
That will also be a first try at backing the trailer over the hump onto the new paths with a lot of weight.
