There is an elderly woman I know who lives in shelteted housing above the woodlands that slope down to the Don River. I met her through her husband, a retired merchant seaman, whom I often met out walking. I haven't seen him in years.

Sadly we had the same issue here. Dad took Mum's word for it that various things were worth a few quid and I've spent the last eight months having to explain that the value of most items lay in the fact that Mum liked them rather than any resale value. Fortunately Dad's been keen to give most of it to charity. It's quite astonishing to see that 95% of the stuff in the house was Mum's clutter and Dad's really quite minimalist 😄
