When I was a kid, the average annual temperature here in the Netherlands was 9.2°C.
The first time it exceeded 11°C was in 2006. This year is the tenth year it does, and the fourth in a row: 11.4°C.

After some tinkering I made my Heltec Wifi LoRa 32 V4 work, even without an extra/better antenna. Somehow it doesn't want to connect to the webclient with Bluetooth but the Android app works fine. It is also nice that this kit has a small screen of it's own.

Climate amnesia: in the Netherlands, we had some winter weather since New Year. Nothing special a few decades ago, but now in the news as "1.5 week of harsh winter weather".
I just looked it up: the period of 1-12 January (average 0.6°C) would rank as #32 coldest in the 126-year record. 25% was colder.

For any political party with principles around LBGTQ , freedom of speech etc , X, Whatsapp and Facebook are no longer platforms for discussion. Everybody should leave, there are better alternatives. Many people find it difficult however, also in my own party (D66, Netherlands).

Yesterday, there were fewer trains in the Netherlands due to snow in the track switches. For today, NS Dutch Railways announced a reduced schedule.

I'm afraid my parents would be ROFL ;)

In our village (pop. 7,000) near Utrecht, the Netherlands, you can't get gasoline or diesel anymore; the last fuel station closed years ago. But for EV drivers, there's around 45 public charging posts, and a bunch of Tesla fast-chargers at the edge of the village, near the highway.

Everyone in the Netherlands knows the Wadden Sea, and we love it. Its tidal flats attract millions of birds, and tourists too.
But I can't remember any national politician drawing attention to the fact that we stand to lose those tidal flats to sea level rise, starting mid-century, due to climate change. Don't they know or don't they care?
