I'm currently reading The Long Heat by Wim Carton and Andreas Malm and highly recommend it. Do not be daunted by the page count of 704 pages. It has so many notes at the back, without back matter it's only ~420 pages. Hard to read emotionally, though. It paints a stark picture of earth's near future and the massive destruction of human and other-than-human life ahead, and the insane brinkmanship of elite consensus.

Don’t get me wrong - while using the fountain pen I am still trying to maintain good writing posture and I’m continuing to do my regular hand stretches.
But for a sense of the difference: before, I was happy with the fact that I managed to develop a good pain management routine to allow me to write like 2-3 pages at a time without convulsing in pain.
And now I can write 6 pages nonstop without even thinking or feeling anything. A short 5–10 minute rest and I can come back for more.
This is such a big deal to me. I was able to draw yesterday with a relaxed hand after spending hours writing notes. Before I’d only be able to do one or the other in a day!
And then I finished the evening by writing out a chapter of my novel by hand.
And today my hand is totally fine!!

Good Morning #Canada
You don't have to like numbers to appreciate Statistics Canada, aka StatsCan. Jean Talon could be considered Canada's first official statistician when he arrived in North America in 1665 on a mission for King Louis XIV to conduct Canada's first census in 1666. In 1918, the Statistics Act created the Dominion Bureau of Statistics, a national statistics office that ultimately would become Statistics Canada. Besides conducting the Census of Population and the Census of Agriculture every five years, StatCan has more than 450 active surveys on virtually all aspects of life in Canada. Results are published twice a month and can be accessed via The Daily web page.
One of my favourite web pages is Canada's Population Clock (real-time model). It's fascinating to watch, and our population increased by 11 while I typed this post.

this is how git-pages / grebedoc handled an 1.2 Gbps peak of egress just now: a blip
(nb: the p99 is inflated by slow clients, since this particular chart shows request times as long as the client drags them out)

On November 20th, women stop being paid compared to men.
This is the point in the year when,
on average,
women effectively work for free.
The gender pay gap is now 11.3%,
up from 10.7% last year.
It’s a stark reminder that while progress has been made,
gender pay inequality persists
- and may be higher than we thought.

HUGE NEWS from the new Epstein files:
Records show that Maria Farmer, who worked for Epstein, filed a "child pornography" report to the FBI in 1996.
The FBI has never before acknowledged that complaint. The case went nowhere, and mass abuse followed.
Maria has been accused over the years of fabricating her story that she had gone to the FBI.
After finding the document in the trove, I called her.
She broke down in tears.

Whitehouse propaganda minister Karoline Leavitt insisted,
“Everything I’m telling you is the truth backed by real, factual data,
