#caturday

Cartoon.
A man in a blue suit sits at a desk, his head resting in his right hand, a bored, resigned look on his face. There is a quill pen in an ink jar by his right elbow. A couple pages of sheet music are spread across the desk top. A yellow cat with brown stripes (perpendicular to the spine) sits on the papers, its tail curled into the air, looking away from the man.
Caption. The real reason for Schubert’s “Unfinished” symphony.

🔥 Hot take, but managing middleware order in #aspnetcore is busted.
It would be nice if there were less granularity and more “when you add this, it's going to register in the right place every time”.
Case in point:

In apps that use CORS middleware, UseOutputCache must be called after UseCors.
In Razor Pages apps and apps with controllers, UseOutputCache must be called after UseRouting.

Novel browser extension idea: Site bookmarks
Sometimes bookmarks are only useful when you're on a specific website, when visiting a specific page, etc. This extension would let you create a bookmark that would only show up as a suggestion on specific pages
Extra credit: allow users to configure include/exclude rules for showing a bookmark

"The RDBMS field is so young, we can actually see it grow through the pages of computer magazines of the 1980s. BYTE Magazine had its first issue dedicated to databases in November 1981, and then another one in October 1984. Dr. Dobb’s Journal did not feature an article about databases until 1984 and did not have many more throughout the decade; actually most of them were authored by Gene Head, and talk about dBASE."

I’ve been scanning through NUGET, and consulting firms have figured out they can get quality backlinks by publishing some bespoke “dev kit” that no one will use.
It’s exacerbated by the package sprawl and “separation of concerns” style solutions that plague .NET, so their DevKit sprawls over 100 packages.
Keep pushing new versions every few minutes to keep those “recently updated” pages showing your corporate logos.

By promoting a healthy dialogue between management and software engineers.
By showing empathy with one another and with mankind.
By unionizing and fighting against atrocious work conditions."
