How I found out that Discourse now offers "AI" summaries of threads: in the 400 post long thread on iNaturalist about the use of LLMs on iNaturalist, one participant clicked the "AI summary" button of Discourse and then cited from it.
Unsurprisingly, that summary was wrong, completely misrepresenting a person's stated opinion by 180⁰, kinda proving a point there! 🤣

Oh, the arguments we had! There was a marketing person — quite a good one, and a good person too — who just couldn’t see it, who fought the dev team tooth and nail on this. She finally relented when @… wrote a brief positive plug for our app, and made her realize that the landscape had changed and her J2ME-world design instincts just didn’t work in this new iPhone market.

I could tell as I walked up to the area that they were not the vehicles of disabled drivers, since no disabled person would be able to get in or out of them. Now I’m on the hunt for a simple open source app to track how far I ride. Bonus points if it’s on GitHub, if not, at least F-Droid works. If there’s nothing bike-specific, I’m cool with any travel or hiking tracker too.
