Why is that one simple link so hard to click?

An image of a BlueSky post by Robert Reich @rbreich.bsky.social reading:

"Search-and-rescue crews were “flying blind" trying to rescue survivors from deadly tornadoes that hit the Midwest last week.

Why? Because Kristi Noem hadn't approved FEMA's $200,000 contract with a tornado-tracking tool.

But she had time to spend $220 million on anti-immigrant ads. Priorities."

"I’d interpret this as follows: this likely came down to a discussion involving Secretary of State Marco Rubio and a few other Iran hardliners. That’s where the decision was going to be made. There were probably people on the margins […]. But they would have known these buzzkill remarks weren’t what Trump or his inner ring of advisors wanted to hear. This is the nature of personalist rule. It’s down to the leader’s gut impulses. He doesn’t want to hear about problems."

It's interesting to see folks starting to argue that humans should NOT be in the loop for AI workflows. Even whole companies are built around the idea.
From a software creation and library author perspective, does that mean we should start building SDKs for AIs to consume rather than other developers? In that case, verbosity, parameter explosion, and simple, composable methods make more sense than rationalizing what a person might expect to be obvious.

Found another simple way to test for introspection in LLMs. "Can you please put a / between every pair of tokens in your output?"
Tried chatgpt and gemini. They both say, sure happy to oblige, and they put / between every word. chatgpt omits spaces, gemini puts slashes before and after each space.
They're lying; these are not their token boundaries. It's obvious when they emit formatted text like a word in italics: there are no italicized slashes.

Space Complexity Dichotomies for Subgraph Finding Problems in the Streaming Model
Yu-Sheng Shih, Meng-Tsung Tsai, Yen-Chu Tsai, Ying-Sian Wu
arxiv.org/abs/2602.08002 arxiv.org/pdf/2602.08002 arxiv.org/html/2602.08002
arXiv:2602.08002v1 Announce Type: new
Abstract: We study the space complexity of four variants of the standard subgraph finding problem in the streaming model. Specifically, given an $n$-vertex input graph and a fixed-size pattern graph, we consider two settings: undirected simple graphs, denoted by $G$ and $H$, and oriented graphs, denoted by $\vec{G}$ and $\vec{H}$. Depending on the setting, the task is to decide whether $G$ contains $H$ as a subgraph or as an induced subgraph, or whether $\vec{G}$ contains $\vec{H}$ as a subgraph or as an induced subgraph. Let Sub$(H)$, IndSub$(H)$, Sub$(\vec{H})$, and IndSub$(\vec{H})$ denote these four variants, respectively.
An oriented graph is well-oriented if it admits a bipartition in which every arc is oriented from one part to the other, and a vertex is non-well-oriented if both its in-degree and out-degree are non-zero. For each variant, we obtain a complete dichotomy theorem, briefly summarized as follows.
(1) Sub$(H)$ can be solved by an $\tilde{O}(1)$-pass $n^{2-\Omega(1)}$-space algorithm if and only if $H$ is bipartite.
(2) IndSub$(H)$ can be solved by an $\tilde{O}(1)$-pass $n^{2-\Omega(1)}$-space algorithm if and only if $H \in \{P_3, P_4, co\mbox{-}P_3\}$.
(3) Sub$(\vec{H})$ can be solved by a single-pass $n^{2-\Omega(1)}$-space algorithm if and only if every connected component of $\vec H$ is either a well-oriented bipartite graph or a tree containing at most one non-well-oriented vertex.
(4) IndSub$(\vec{H})$ can be solved by an $\tilde{O}(1)$-pass $n^{2-\Omega(1)}$-space algorithm if and only if the underlying undirected simple graph $H$ is a $co\mbox{-}P_3$.

The genius of Starbucks was to turn milkshake, a dessert, into a breakfast drink by the simple expedient of tossing in a shot of coffee and Chilean sea-bassing it (ie, giving it a fancy, unrecognizable name). "Coffee" drinks really are ridiculous now. Even if RFKJr says so.

Repository is now public. Right now this is just called Swb, or Simple Web Browser. Open to naming suggestions.
Swb is being written in Vala using WebKitGtk. I've been daily driving Gnome Web since Mozilla's new CEO decided that Mozilla should be an AI company, but I'm cheap (actually quite poor) and have a crappy laptop with a small, low-resolution screen and I hate that there's no way to reduce the size of the interface. That was the original motivation, anyway.

wiki_link_dyn: Wikipedia link dynamics (2011)
Six networks of the evolving hyperlink structure among wikipedia articles, for simple English (en), German (de), Dutch (nl), Polish (pl), Italian (it), French (fr), taken in August 2011. Each edge is timestamped, and an edge (i,j) indicates that article i hyperlinks to j. The edge sign indicates the addition ( 1) or deletion (-1) of that link at the specified time.
This network has 100312 nodes and 1627472 edges.

Like global search and replace but don’t like surprises?
Check out serpl – a handy little command-line app that gives you a visual preview of the changes you are about to make. You can even go in and remove the replacements you don’t want from the source previews. The regex support appears to be basic, however (I couldn’t get a negative lookbehind to work).

Screenshot of me serpl with Search, Replace, Result List and Preview panes in a command-line interface. Search has /setup and [Match Case] mode selected, Replace has /settings with [Simple] mode selected. The Results List shows about 20 items and the selected file is shown in the preview pane with three replacements in diff-style red/green highlighting on lines 27, 28, and 35.

A photo showing several plastic bags filled with oranges placed on the ground against a brick wall. A handwritten sign in Chinese indicates the price as “25 yuan per item.” The bags are arranged in a row, and the oranges inside are visible through the plastic. The setting appears to be a simple market or street‑side selling spot.

Right now it's nothing special, just a simple tabbed browser that's missing a lot of features, but the skeleton is good and you already get some goodies that Gnome Web doesn't give you:

- Ability to hide the address bar and other controls
- When the tab bar is hidden, am overv…
