Tom Petty's 'Square One' was on The Bear in episode 8, I always forget how much I love that song. The things that guy could do with just a guitar and voice- damn. Magical. And then Strange Currencies later on in the episode. A lot of great and sometimes really unique musical choices on the show in general.

Future archaeologiists will look at 2025 TV show and wonder if there had been a sudden and widespread famine that only affected actors.
But mostly I have re-watched Buffy.
If you include Angel, and surely you must, then there's more than 250 episodes in Buffy's world and they're all great. Actual best TV show ever made. Haven't rewatched it since the naughties.
Watched about 150 episodes in the last 3 weeks. 😆
It starts well, reaches a good stride in season two and then gets entirely great around the end of S3 when Ayna turns up and creates the Bored Vampire Willow. Buffy S5 with Glory is the absolute peak. Glory is magnificent.
All the main characters are amazing all the way through, and evolve and grow instead of sticking the same as with most TV. They aren't static caricatures.
The plots story and writing is brilliant, the special effects mostly just rubber masks which age better than any CGI does.
There's vampires and slayers and witches in my dreams and I am loving it.
Nothing since has touched it.
The 16x9 cut of the first two seasons is badly framed though. Watch the 4x3 original TV frame size for sure.

I want to watch this if for only one reason. To see if it shows any clips from an early 90s interview I swear has been scrubbed from the internet.
iirc (big if), it was an E True Hollywood Story. Could've been Howard Stern's old E show. Anyway, Charlie is clearly high, slurring his words, throughout this interview. Definitely before 1998. '93? '95? It was insane to me at the time that it got on TV.

I don’t want to dwell •too• much on the shadenfreude of Trump’s pitiful parade, but I do think it’s worth just taking this in:
Trump’s political success has always hinged on him knowing how to be a reality TV star, knowing better than the news orgs themselves that political “news” is in fact reality TV, knowing how to manipulate that reality TV show.
And today, he failed at that completely. His reality show sucked. The news of the day just ran right over him. https://kolektiva.social/@Voline/114685755430626127

Being stuck with a broken wrist so unable to really do much of the things, I have spend a lot of this month watching TV.
I'm not all that up on Star Wars, so when I watched Season One of Andor I didn't know it was about a man called Andor, I had that name confused with Endor, and so I was distracted by the lack of Ewoks.
No such distraction for season two though, now I know it's about a rebel mercenary and his adventures leading up to him being in Rogue One delivering details about how to blow up a death star.
They all live in the Empire, which is relentless and authoritarian and evil just like the real life empire taking over western civilization now. They persecute and harass poor Andor and his buddies so much that they cause the rebellion against their authority that they intend to suppress.
Great show.
Wonder if all the people arrested wrongfully for doing no real crime in the US and UK and around the west will end up fighting the empire here too?
Still wish there was a series about ewoks though.

Watched Wednesday S2
The family moves to Wednesday's school after being mind-controlled into organising the gala in a plot for money. So it's almost just an Adams Family series really, other than being at Wednesday's school.
The Hyde monsters and werewolves look great, big cgi animals with absolutely massive round eyes.
Wednesday now has a little redhead mini-me stalking her with a crush and eyes nearly as big as a Hyde.
Wednesday is somehow portrayed as both an outcast and also the hero who saves the day and the school every episode. Which is a problem with hero outcasts.
Tim Burton's magical style suits the Adams Family well. Inspired him probably. Goths look cool. The Addams Family is cool.
Nice they way they wove in a story of how Gomez lost his powers. And link Thing to the big bad, meaning Thing can save the day.
Enjoyed the show a lot.

Murderbot was so damn good! I have just one tiny complaint. The text was too small. I don’t watch it on a huge 72” TV, so whenever they would show text from SecUnit I’d have to get closer to the screen to read it.
I don't want to live forever, I just want to live long enough to... (list in alphabetical order by verb):

- meet every person, animal, and other living being
- play every video game, board game, sport, and musical instrument
- read every book, newspaper/magazine article, website, and social media post
- run every computer program
- sleep on every bed, couch, and futon
- swim in every lake, river, and other body of water
- view every painting, sculpture, photograph, map, and other work of art
- visit every city, landmark, historic site, and protected area
- watch every movie, TV show, video, and theater production
...that all shouldn't take too long, right?

Operating system drama is basically YouTube drama but with way more keyboard clacking and less ukuleles. Friends turn into rivals overnight just because of which OS you use. It is wild to see people treat software choices like reality TV show rivalries.
What makes me even sadder is how something that should come from understanding and research turns into a full-blown philosophical fight. Choosing an OS should be about what works for you, not a reason to start a digital soap opera.

TWENTY SEVEN series! Man. South Park continues to be pretty cool too.
Still both fresh and yet familiar. I remain in awe of the consistency of the show over more than half my whole life now.
Stupid cock and fart jokes with an absurd setup which on a second level is mentioning and mocking the true absurdity and violence of real life.
Satan being Trump's lover in a rehash of the Sadam Hussain skit is lovely.
They seem determined to try and get cancelled, but haven't managed that in 27 years. Maybe it's a small-dick joke that'll finally do them in?
Still got half of this season to watch. Seems like it's mostly bi-weekly now? Or every episode is delayed.

Wanted: a separate display device to sit under my TV and do nothing but show subtitles.
I guess this isn't easy. The subtitle data isn't in the HDMI output from your streaming device. That's too bad, it'd be relatively straightforward if it was. Could still hack something up but it'd involve customizing the streaming source.

Seventeen seasons is a very long run too.
Another eight episodes of the gang all being mean to each other and talking over each other and getting into farcical scrapes.
The dinner party rehearsals were the funniest bit. Slowly A/B testing and audience reaction tests, that's how to make art. 😆
Not sure I'd say the show is mostly funny these days, but their bitching meanness to each other is comfortingly familiar.

Watched all of "Ghosts US", the American version of the UK spooky sit-com.
There's like seventy episodes that I watched in less than a week. This is how I like telly to be. Relentless.
The show's weaker than the UK one in some ways but that shear continuity, the endless-seeming perpetuity of it, drove it into my brain.
US Ghosts are always trying to cop off with each other. Sexy ghosts. Pairing up. Don't remember much of that in the UK one. Perhaps when you make it 5x longer you're left with little else in the way of story to write.
Anyway, it's over now. I miss it in the way you might miss an infuriating neighbour if they moved out.

Watched Severance, both seasons over the course of a week or so. Late to the party there I'm sure.
Wiping your memory when you walk into another room and wondering why you are in there is just a part of getting old I'm afraid 😆
You'd think the innie work personas would object and rebel more really, more like Hellany than the rest. Innies don't get paid, don't get to spend the wages. Pretty easy to get fired from a job really, just don't do the work.
Interesting that nobody was a different sexuality inside vs out, guess that's just fixed by biology huh? No transgender innies either. Maybe that's for season three.
Don't really get Helen's motivation for getting severed at all. Can't go under cover if you wipe your own memory. Can surely do a better job of it all from the outside.
Anyway. Gripping and stylish show, good fun. Nearly as good as everyone says it is.
