The ICE invasion really knocked the fundraising on its heels this year: everyone diverted, one major fundraising event cancelled. It’s looking a little dire; maybe no one goes this year. They could use some help.

I'd previously read her autobiographical graphic novel "Messy Roots" which was excellent, and this book continues that trend. Yet another complicated look at a Chinese-American immigrant experience, wrapped into a queer romance with a dose of spirituality in there as well. I think the background metaphor of falling is really strong, and gets used in so many senses it's beautiful.

Now before you start reporting colder temperatures in your area - it ain't a competition people - let's remember our country's coldest day in history.
Canada's coldest recorded temperature was a staggering -63°C in Snag, Yukon on February 3, 1947. The temperature was so extreme it broke thermometers and made Snag famous for the record for North America's coldest spot, caused by stalled Siberian air. Other extremely cold locations included Fort Vermilion, AB (-60.6°C) and Old Crow, YT (-59.4°C). Nobody was tonguing steel poles that day.

I really liked this extra touch of color in the grey surrounding. And that it's just a little detail on the huge mountain.

I wasn't sure if I have a good or funny one to share with this topic. But I remembered visiting a wildlife park nearby at an autumn day.
It was a beautiful stroll through the park, watching the wildlife there when this situation came to be. Unplanned, just by pure luck.
