I can (almost) reliably tell when the Slack desktop client needs to be upgraded because it starts to behave oddly: click "1 new message" and nothing happens, or notifications that doesn't clear once you see them.
Wonder why they don't just show yet another notification to tell users to upgrade, it would be way less confusing. Probably they don't because the H in HTTP stands for HELL 😂

So I was at node 22.9.0 and mastodon's compiler was complaining that I needed to be at least 22.14 or something… I've used the command at root:
n latest
and
n stable
The first installed v25.2.1
The second installed v24.11.1
now when I do node --version it reports:
v24.11.1
So hopefully the next time I need to do a mastodon upgrade it won’t complain anymore? 🤷‍♂️

I think #footiMac is nearing its limit for what I'm asking of it. Between Mastodon and being a nginx relay for three Youtube streams... it's disk access is running at 70-80% constantly.
I'm not sure that I can upgrade it internally in any way that would make a big difference.

The upgrade is not yet available. The issues described in my previous comment are with 25.04.
I'm in no rush for the upgrade. Whilst waiting, I learnt how to work with 25.04 encrypted root-on-OpenZFS whilst booted from a 25.10 USB memory stick in live mode. Information wasn't too difficult to find. Some pleasant surprises :-)
