30 minutes of sunlight brought my #meshtastic nodes online again, but they will probably die tonight anyway

A buddy out in Washington sent me a photo of his attempt to get better range with his #meshtastic radio.
The number of default-named #Meshtastic nodes in #Montreal is surprisingly high.
Like lots of `Meshtastic 40af`/`40af` nodes.
Is it like this everywhere? Why don't people configure their nodes? Am I just failing to read the configured name properly? So many questions…
Edit: adding screen…
Has someone tried to join a #Meshtastic or #Meshcore network with a software defined radio (#SDR) yet?
Should be possible, right?
#Meshtastic question: Does a client connected to MQTT, relay all incoming LORA messages onto MQTT or only if they are the winning node for rebroadcast generally?
Playing around a little with #Meshtastic this week with a couple of nodes, plus the portable card. 3D printed some cases too.
Cool stuff; flashing is easy, but it needs tuning for location, and I wonder how reliable it will ultimately be (it is usable). I'll probably look at getting #mqtt
Checking my #meshtastic solar nodes that has'nt gotten any sunshine for the past three weeks.
My custom built one, with a 4000mAh battery is probably going offline any day now, with 23% battery left.
The Seeed Studio Solar Node, with a muuch larger battery bank (nearly 10000mAh) is reporting 76% left.
RE: #FrugalComputing
@dawid@social.craftknight.comAnyone else occasionally get the desire to hunt down funding/money for random safety devices? For instance, could make an SOS Beacon thing using meshtastic or something...

Meshtastic is basically useless unless you are already close enough to simply talk. Nerd toy. Buy a Baofeng. Don't worry about getting a license. If SHTF, just use the radio, it's literally legal to do so in an emergency (in case you're worried the FCC is going to send an Apache after your ass during a natural disaster or civil war)
Thus far OLF seems to be going well, (at least from a back of the house standpoint). Got my meshtastic display / presentation setup with a working live node to demonstrate communication and environmental sensor support. A good number of folks asking about the tech, which is always fun!
Oh yeah, and the occasional cosplayer in full attire wandering through is good entertainment too.

Für Berlin gibts übrigens eine gute Einstiegsseite für Meshcore und Meshtastic Community: #meshcore
Anyone knows why WebSerial does not work under #opensuse #tumbleweed?
