I visited the local lambs again
#sheep

A lamb is standing in a grassy field looking at me - it's floppy black ears sticking out; it has a black head and legs but a white body. It's got a '6' sprayed on it's side in blue; Just the one 6, it's not the anti-christ or anything.
A lamb is head down munching a way in a field of grass; it's on the other side of a wire fence. The head and legs are black adn the body is a very fluffy white/cream. There's a partial blue sprayed on marking.

Yet another example of the imperial boomerang. The US is turning the tools of imperialism on its own people, and it has been for the last 25 years. You don’t start with unaccountable masked police kidnapping people off the streets, you get there one incremental step at a time.

This call for a simple moniterable power monitor soundsrelatively simple; I guess the question is how to do it cheaply; are there any Shelly devices that can voltage monitor that could be stuffed in a box with a mobile modem/phone?

The narrative that #AI will do all routine and we can just focus on important/strategic/big picture things works because it tell us that we are oh so smart and special. WE DO THE BIG STUFF.
Newsflash: If your big picture decisions are not grounded in real experience they are gonna end up bullshit.

This comes down to the cyberlibertarian roots of most digital movements (thing Archive.org, EFF, EDRI etc.): To them "open" is a value in itself and any political values are read as "restrictions" or "regulation" or "lack of freedom".

It's not just the MCP stuff (that one is extremely badly built though) but so many other pieces of that stack and the models.
"AI" as an "industry" has basically no regard for engineering. Which is why all the talk about "safety" is utter nonsense.

I am planning on moving my shit away from Notion.
The whole "2nd Brain" thing does not work for me (it just gives me busywork instead of doing something useful) so what I am looking for
- self-hostable
- should have a web interface I can use from any machine without installation
-I need "tasks", "projects" that contain tasks and "notes" (ideally optionally connected to projects and/or tasks)
- boards for tasks
- mobile …

From CreativeCommons with their "signals" to the OSI with their "open source AI" fiasco it seems that the stewards of the legal structures protecting the digital commons are not on the side of people actually wanting to contribute to the commons for humanity. (Maybe they never were.)
If those organizations don't reorient themselves to align with people's needs maybe we need to fork.

I think a misunderstanding is that people want to fight "scraping" or "automated systems". But my feeling is that the issue is with the _purpose_ of the scraping: It's not "that person is scraping my site" it's "that person wants to use my work to train their slop machine". The issue is the SLOP machine with all the negative externalities they have.
And that is a path worth exploring (that I have similarly argued for code): We want to cont…

Liberals (in basically any western country) think that the political victory of the right is due to messaging: "We just need to get the messaging right".
No. Your politics are shit because you are adopting the narratives of the right (austerity, racism) and provide no meaningful alternatives.
