Behold, The Imposing Frieder (2053m).
(Picture from yesterday, confirming that spring is not quite evenly distributed just yet...)
#MountainMonday #LandscapePhotography #Alps

Photo of the imposing north face of a large pyramidal mountain peak, still mostly snow covered even down into the valley. The late afternoon sun is faintly highlighting some of the cracks and ridges in the snow. The silhouettes of some spruces in the foreground. Overcast gray wintry sky.

A record-baking heat wave is scalding California,
with major consequences for the state’s most important reservoir:
its snowpack.
Providing about a third of the state’s water supply,
the Sierra Nevada snowpack is a vital source of spring and summer runoff
that refills reservoirs when the state needs the water most.
But a warm wet storm followed February’s snow,
and now, March temperatures are shattering records
— prompting warnings of rapid sno…

Maybe it isn't a very ladylike pose, and that neck looks broken, but Harley is totally relaxed about the heavy snow falling outside. She knows Spring is close despite the current weather conditions.

Evening walk. Beautiful Wetterstein. Exceptionally clear air & light tonight... 🤩

Wide-format photo of the snow covered Wetterstein massif (incl. Zugspitze) seen from a distance from the foothills of the northern Alps. Two wind farms with 10 wind wheels in total in the forests at medium distance. Fields bathed in the warm spring evening light in the foreground. Clear blue/purple sky.

Good Morning #Canada
I'm heading out for an early appointment in Barrie and checking the weather to see if I'll have any challenges during my 25 minute travel time. I'll have to navigate through some snow - duh... it's Barrie - but poorly salted roads is also an issue. Ontario is facing a shortage of road salt due to an early onset of winter, higher than normal ice days early in the season and some supply chain issues with suppliers. Currently municipalities are trying to stretch their dwindling supply and mixing in more sand. That additional use of sand will result in higher cleaning costs in the spring but right now it's their only option. Suppliers believe that they'll solve the shortage problem in the next month but for now, get used to a bit more snow on your roads.
