Just finished #PacificDrive, what a fantastic game! Really knows where to spend it's budget. Loved the annihilation meets cozy autumn drive vibes. Sound track will stay with me for years, and great narrative carried very simply and effectively.

This. And yet: looking at its context, it was _shipped_ soon after that prototype period, renamed to 'java'script to tack on to the zeitgeist, and built as a glue language without basic debugging. Some of the mistakes persist!
But it did in fact turn into a reasonable language that's fully developed. Not without deep flaws, but most real systems have deep flaws. The _way_ the half-assing plays out matters a lot.

Na boa, eu jš cansei de vivenciar a História. Tudo o que eu queria era um ano com estabilidade, historicamente chato.
mit diesen Reifen bin ich jetzt etwa 3.000km gefahren. Man kann ganz gut den Unterschied zwischen Vorder- und Hinterreifen erkennen.
Da ich in mit diesen Reifen aber nicht so ganz zufrieden bin, u.a. wegen je einem "Plattfuß", habe ich sie nicht einfach getauscht, sondern neue besorgt.

But it turns out, in a great many cases, _we can actually check what the right answer is_, and we should generally do that.

Ainda não conferi se eu ganhei na mega-sena da virada. Estou pensando em só fazer isto daqui a uns 15 dias e me permitir sonhar que estou multimilionšrio até lš rs.
Seriously, the worst ones are nodejs and rust: they fundamentally break the nodejs dependency model, flattening everything. They've chosen _controlling_ dependencies instead of _annotating_ them for understanding. Metadata about what's in a package and a package-build-time mechanism for substituting things in lockfiles would be far far simpler for forcing security updates than rewriting everything to use system dependencies, and versions that are not reconcilable.
Heck, both npm and cargo have put a lot of effort into repeatability though not actual hermetic builds, so it's very much Good Enough if you're using lock files. The problems are in updating those, not building packages. Mirror the registries if you need to. That's a much more tractable problem than _rewriting parts of everything you package_ or _eagerly packaging every dependency as a separate [human] task_

man debian packaging is so cursed with modern package managers. It's so oriented around everything being C-shaped libfoo-version.tar.gz files at the core, and everything else is forced into that hole.
I get _why_ but the trade-offs seem really bad now. I can see why Canonical said 'screw it, we're doing snaps’ for a lot of stuff. I can see why flatpak is being used. Of course those just head straight for the cliff of "Security updates? Nah" cliff.

Estava com dor de cabeça. Aí tomei um pouco de energético e depois um longo banho gelado. Melhorou. Mas agora nunca saberemos se era abstinência de cafeína ou calor rs.
Fiz um horšrio do que seria uma rotina muito saudšvel durante as férias, com bastante tempo livre. Aí contabilizei a quantidade de horas de que preciso para fazer todas as pendências (tanto de trabalho como de casa). E deu mais do que o dobro de horas de trabalho que eu teria nessa rotina saudšvel. Aí bate a tentação de fazer muito mais coisas durante as férias. E depois as pessoas se surpreendem quando o burnout chega.
Além do calor, estou morrendo de sono. O gato me acordou umas quatro vezes durante esta noite. O carnaval estš chegando. Depois este gato vira tamborim e eu que sou uma pessoa ruim rs.
