I watched "Thief" (1981), directed by Michael Mann. Sort of a heist movie, sort of a mob movie, but aspires to be a Cassavetes movie. An interesting mix, and really well shot. Ryan Coogler said this was the film that made "wet-downs" a thing, and judging by all of the wet streets & sidewalks, I believe it.
Features Willie Nelson in a minor role. Also features a soundtrack by Tangerine Dream.

Movie still from "Thief". Frank, played by James Cann, walks through his car dealership lot as cars behind him burn in bright flames. Strings of electric lights are above, and the lights are reflected in the bodies of the cars, including Frank's vehicle in the foreground.

Following the expected mention of technology neutrality with regard to the 2035 review of CO₂ standards for cars, the automotive section of Von der Leyen's State of the Union speech ends on a positive note:

I believe Europe should have its own E-car.

E for environmental – clean, efficient and lightweight.

E for economical – affordable for people.

E for European – built here in Europe, with European supply chains.

Because we cannot let China and others conquer this market.

No matter what, the future is electric.

And Europe will be part of it.

The future of cars – and the cars of the future – must be made in Europe.

I got in a nice 7km run tonight, feeling better after having had a cold. Did the first 30 min or so in HR zone 2, then got irritated with the pace and decided to go a little faster for the last half hour. That might be the plan going forward. I believe in the expanded fitness levels that zone 2 builds, but it suuuucks!

The chart of my heart rate: zone 2 for the first half, then mostly zone 4 for the last half. My average was 144 BPM which is the absolute floor of the zone 4 estimation.
My running stats: 7km in 1:02:49 for an average pace of 8:56/km

I went to Stewart Park this Sunday after the Ithaca 5 and 10 to make a 3-d scan of the lighthouse on the jetty which didn't work out but I did see these kayakers goings under this bridge.

A wood bridge with diagonally oriented planks and green mesh metal sides goes from filling the whole frame at the bottom to about 20% left on the vertical center line with a dark triangle of water on the left and to the right a water area with ripples and I think 6 kayaks each with one paddler, deciduous trees fill a triangle from the upper left to about the right 1/3 then there is a thin strip of trees that gets a little wider just before the right of the frame, above there are probably str…

It is only a matter of time until noem, homan, dhs, ice and potus realize dropping people out of aircraft is cheaper than housing or moving them.
Unless they already have.
Rumors are the US is engaging in death flights. Already there are some known flight paths of ice flights turning around over bodies of water.
The US Congress and international community seem to be the only things that can stop this.

The image is a table titled "A selection of mass killings by death flights, dropping people from aircraft over water or remote terrain." It lists various countries, time frames, and the number of victims for each documented instance of mass killings by death flights. The table includes the following details:

Country	Time Frame	Number of Victims
Argentina	1976–83	1,500–2,000+; 30,000 disappeared
Chile	1973–90	120 confirmed
Colombia	1948–58	Documented during La Violencia
Guatemala	1975	At least …
