I’ve just ordered some winter cabbage seeds. 5 different varietes. They’ll be here on Sunday, so can get them into seed trays, and get them started indoors, before I plant them outside. I have some frost protecetion if needed, and I should have cabbages from about February and on into spring.

Did some clearing out of the vegetable patch, and getting ready for the autumn. Better to do it now, while it’s dry and sunny, than leave it to a deary, dark damp afternoon in November!

It seems the 27.2 public beta is being a bad boy on my M4 Pro Mac Mini. I tried it again, as I thought it might just be a glitch with the upgrade, but it ended up the same - an endless login loop. Reported to Apple. Has anyone else with a similar Mac had issues like this?

My Mac Mini decided to act up. The Roon server wouldn’t start, so I did my usual routine. After some simple checks, I rebooted. That’s when the trouble started, and it got stuck in a never-ending login loop. In the end, I wiped the drive, did a full reinstall, and then Time Machine did the rest.

Went to bed late (for me) last evening around 11 pm. Then couldn’t sleep until after midnight. Woke around 5 am, went back to sleep until 7 am. I was going to get up, but went back to sleep again and didn’t wake until nine. I never usually sleep that late, but I guess my body needed to catch up!

10 am. Just sat down at my computer desk. It’s a bright, sunny morning, already warming up out there. It’s looking like another lovely afternoon. I have a dental appointment at 11.20 today. Just a routine check-up, but they’ll try to sell me a private hygienist session for almost £100.

It’s a lazy Sunday morning here. I’ve been awake since about 6.30 am, but I made coffee and took it back to bed. I read some stuff on my iPad, and then I got up and made more coffee. Not had breakfast yet, as I can’t eat first thing

I was sitting in the garden, busy reading and writing on my MacBook. I realised that the sun was going down, but I got engrossed in what I was doing, and when I looked up, it was completely dark. I miss the long light summer evenings already!

Meanwhile, the likes of Reform UK bleat that benefit scroungers are costing a huge amount of money, but a large share of that money is the subsidy to corporate profits I mentioned in my last post. Many people getting Government top-ups are hard-working, not sitting about doing nothing all day.

When corporates pay their staff shit wages, and these staff then have to get Government top-ups, we, the taxpayers, are funding these corporates’ profits. So the millionaires become billionaires, and the workers making them that money get poorer.

Just after 6 pm here, and the sun has already gone down behind the houses opposite.

This Afternoon’s Listening:
Two Vastly different albums. First up was Miley’s latest release - Bass Persuades> Ifollowed this with Seasick Steve’s The Last Season of America.

It’s a lovely warm sunny afternoon. Moved to the garden with my MacBook. SOme cheese and salad and a bottle of 2022 Zinfandel to imbibe.

On my third mug of coffee. I’ve done some journalling, and more importantly, I got out of my chair and gave the lawn a light mowing. I was careful to trim only the top, as it certainly hasn’t recovered from the dry July and August weather.

Saturday Morning. 7.25 am. Been awake for almost an hour. Can’t lie around in bed. So, at the computer with a large mug of black coffee, as is my usual start to the day. First day off in seven. Nothing specific planned for today, but maybe some gardening later.

OK, gardening done. Beans cleared up, rogue tomatoes staked up and dead foliage in the garden waste bin. Now, we’re enjoying a glass of wine or two. Julian Faulkner’s Côtes de Provence Rosé 2025. Ideally would be good with a crab salad, but we don’t have that to hand, so we’re eating home-grown strawberries and some cornish cheese instead.

A little bit fresh first thing this morning. I’m still in short sleeved shirts and shirts, but I put on a light jacket when I left the house at 4.15 am.
Depressing time of year - less daylight each day, and temperatures are dropping. Hoping for an Indian summer.

515 am. Already at the salt mine. After today a weeks leave though.

Yay! Finished today’s shift. At home, Showered, and about to eat lunch. No more work until Saturday week. NEver too much time off. I can always find things to do, or just chill.

The washing machine threw an error about blocked drainage. Not the message I want to get at 10 pm. Anyway, it was an easy fix. I took out the filter, and it was full of wet, soggy fluff. Cleaned it, put it back, and now it’s on the final rinse. All done before bedtime!

Another day at the salt mine. I don’t like the shortening daylight hours.

Sitting in the GP waiting room. Waiting to see GP about cough and about blood tests from last week.

Being under the weather has meant no alcohol these past few days. I simply cannot enjoy a drink when I’m not feeling well - a hot toddy is not for me. In any case, even when work patterns allow, I don’t drink every day. 3-4 days off is good, and I usually only drink beer or wine anyway.

I feel much better today. I still feel a bit low on energy, but I’m going back to work tomorrow. In any case, it’s only for two days, since I have a week off next week. The immediate remedy? More coffee of course!
