Thinking real hard these days about the person I followed back on Twitter who wrote "in summary, ICE must be destroyed" at the end of every message, no matter the subject. This was in maybe 2016 or 2018 or so?
Dunno if they're around somewhere here on the fediverse, but damn if they weren't extremely correct.
When I asked them why they did that, their response was something like "well it's true and important, so..."

Summary of today's dreams:
1. I changed my shorts but forgot to replace the paper towels in my pockets. I wouldn't have thought my brain would treat this as such a #nightmare. I mean, lack of paper towels, not fresh shorts. The terror when you put your hand in the pocket, and it's empty.
2. I forgot to put my garbage out last night. It was around 7 AM (having precise dreams is important), it was raining and I was hurrying to put them out, worrying it's too late already. Then, I've discovered there's a huge dumpster in front of my gate, filled to the brim with loose cat litter. And I was thinking, the garbage company won't take such a tonnage of loose litter like that.

Google has both the worst implementation of AI (AI summary in Google Search) and one of the best, NotebookLM. For me that illustrates that we should focus more on implementation and actual applications that use AI models, instead the models themselves.
#AI #Google

@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io

This isn’t trivial stuff. Google has ~15 billion queries a day.
Let’s say 50% of those contain an “AI” summary.
Of these 50%—lets be generous again—10% contain grave factual errors and made-up stuff.
And then let’s be extremely generous and say 1% of queries ask for something like medical advice.
15,000,000,000 x 0.5 x 0.1 x 0.01 x 365 =2,737,500,000
That’s ~2.7 billion wrong, dangerous, misleading, maybe deadly “AI” summaries per year.

We’re closing in on this month’s release of OmniFocus 4.7, with planned dates, mutually-exclusive tags, and improved repeats!
Updated test builds are now available, adding new settings for Forecast counts and summary dots, adding support for keyboard modifiers when using drag-and-drop in Forecast on iPad and visionOS (bringing parity with the support already on Mac), and making other improvements and bug fixes.

Screenshot of the Forecast header in today’s test build of OmniFocus 4.7, indicating that I have 5 items planned for today (the total count) with 2 items due soon (the number of yellow dots under the count). I also have 4 items that I had planned to do on earlier days that I haven’t gotten to yet, only one of which is overdue (the red dot). What a nice loop this was!
Lot's of cyclists on the main roads. Seems like everyone is enjoying the weather 😊

I would definitely advise anyone working to resolve our current predicament not do or say anything which might be viewed as criminal, unless you actually intend to play an active role in a war.
ICE and CBP agents as well as any military or local law enforcers are operating under the color of law based in part on a declaration of emergency by POTUS asserting that we are in a de facto war. They are choosing involvement in a war. Legitimate military targets.

Ask yourself: How many water bottles thrown at cops are worth keeping one innocent American* teen out of inhumane #ICE detention?
For anyone criticizing the #LA protests or suggesting they should stop for any reason, let's be clear about the stakes. Read this article (or my summary):
abcnews.go.com/US/massachusett
This 18-year-old was snatched without a warrant, because he was in his dad's car and allegedly (possibly a lie or mistake) his dad drove recklessly. He's been in the US since he was 5, originally on a student visa that's since expired. He is an innocent American, by any reasonable definition of those two words*. Thankfully, he's since been released on bail, but he may yet be held indefinitely in ICE detention (in inhumane conditions that have been repeatedly documented) and/or separated from his family & friends and shipped off to Brazil where he last lived when he was 5 (ICE does not care whether he speaks Portuguese, has any family there, etc), all potentially without due process (though he seems to be getting that in this case). Even if this doesn't happen to Marcelo due to the media attention & protests, it is certainly happening to other innocent Americans throughout the country who aren't as lucky to have people standing up for them.
Here's Marcelo speaking about detention conditions and those he was detained with:
youtube.com/shorts/ZpZMUb9aEys
Do you know how many kids like Marcelo were detained in LA yesterday? Probably zero, because of the protests, including their confrontational tactics. The most "violence" I've seen (from the protestors) is throwing a water bottle at a line of heavily-armored riot police. So the protests are working to protect the community. If you're suggesting a change in tactics, consider whether your suggested tactics (like pre-scheduled non-confrontational protests that have been happening for weeks) will protect the Marcelos of LA.
*Whether he's innocent or American should not in fact matter, but sadly it might to some reading this. If that's you, you've still got some growing up to do.
