I'm not into audiophile stuff btw, just decent quality things really.
For example, I have a pair Bose 901 speakers that are ~50 years old and they sound fantastic.
But it's not even that, if properly engineered even stuff which hasn't the primary purpose of sound reproduction can sound good.
My 15-year old Apple Thunderbolt Display, the 8-year old iPad Pro and the 5-year old Mac Book Pro all sound great.
But—
The speakers in my 2025 LG TV? They shouldn't have bothered installing them but instead put them right into a landfill.
Speakers in my Asus gaming monitor? Like someone dragging a nail on a chalkboard.
And, weirdly, the Apple HomePod mini is pretty bad at reproducing music. A 10-year old Bose SoundLink mini beats the pants of it. 🤷

Today, I am going to be removing a favorite user feature: picking your own font for the Xogot text editor and La Terminal as now you need Apple's approval to use third party fonts installed in the system.
But at least my users will be safe from picking a font in bad taste.

Just noticed Firefox was guzzling around ~750MB when opening Apple Music page. This led me down a rabbit hole of building a custom music client and its so bad.
1. You need Apple developer account (99USD/year) for API access.
2. Linux is not a native target meaning having to use MusicKit JS library with Electron, GtkWebKit or QtWebEngine.
3. Legal issues.
Spotify is such a saint in terms of third-party client support. Also, I have Amazon Prime which gets me Amazon Music…

huh. TIL: there is a “four corners” place in Canada, like there is more famously in the USA, where Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico meet.
But ours is automatically cooler, figuratively and literally*, because it is a: at 60° Latitude, and b: involves two Territories and two Provinces.
It is where the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba meet.
It is also a LOT harder to get to. Though arguably, as it is amongst the thousands of lakes in the area, during the summer, a float plane would get you there.
Also, technically. It is not a perfect “joining” on the map which is just bad planning on Canada’s part, but at least it is hiking distance. Or that might be just a projection issue. They seem to converge at 60N 102W. I guess I could consult an official boundary document or something :)
