Listening to the Christmas concert from Wiener Konzerthaus. Good music, but why does Brownlee sing the musical pieces with vibrato?
I'm not much of a classical music buff and ignorant of much in this field, but this came across to me as odd. It's almost as if the Tenor decided to not adapt his technique to the style of the piece.
Is this common, or with purpose?
Or to put it in another way, is using vibrato a choice?

As many of you know, I very much enjoy classical music. I have many favorites. One of those is the William Tell Overture by Gioachino Rossini – a portion of which was used at the as the theme music for the TV series “The Lone Ranger” in the 50’s and 60’s.
