For some reason, my home server was using the "performance" CPU scaling governor. Changing it to "conservative" seems to have lowered power consumption for the whole machine by almost 10%. This saves more than 25€ per year in electricity cost.
You can check your own CPU scaling governor with `cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor`.

The rise of artificial intelligence, cloud platforms, and data processing is driving a steady increase in global data center electricity consumption. A lot of people will call shunning Amazon, Meta, etc "purity politics". According to them, since no company is perfect, we should just give up having lines, since there is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

Apparently CPU clock speed doesn't have as much impact on power consumption as I had foolishly assumed it did. At least not on Zen3 desktop silicon.

Some jurisdictions still believe that tighter regulation of cars can encourage innovation and deliver benefits.
The aim here is to improve the efficiency of electric vehicles further.
