We've had problems ourselves with one of my kids RE teacher declaring that fossils are fake and that the big bang made no sense. I'm perfectly fine with the education part, especially given how important religion is in so many peoples lives. Having knowledge of the basic precepts and practices is an important part of understanding and empathising with others.
