They met in Florida for the event, on March 7.

The RetroTINK is now hooked up into the SCART switch along with the capture card on the computer. Switched back over to the JVC TM-H150CG because it's a better CRT than the Sony PVM-2530 and it takes up a bit less space. Still need to arrange the cables a bit, but I think this weekend is gonna be perfect for playing some games.

Here's my #mountainMonday from the weekend. It's been a nice hike up there.
I almost didn't make it out but finally went to the mountains.
By the time I came there I was really happy that several peoplpe went this trail before. Otherwise ... I'm not sure if I would have gone there without snowshoes to be honest.
Next time, I might really bring snowshoes. …

A picturesque winter scene unfolds in this serene mountain setting. A quaint wooden cabin, with its white walls and rustic charm, sits nestled on a snow-covered slope. The cabin is surrounded by a peaceful blanket of snow, with patches of grass peeking through in places, hinting at the transition between seasons.

Tall evergreen trees frame the cabin, their branches heavy with snow, adding to the idyllic atmosphere. The trees create a natural border, enhancing the sense of seclusion and tranqui…

Weekend #Plankton Factoid 🦠🦐
While I have often talked about eutrophication (high nutrients leading to excess algae production), systems worldwide have also undergone oligotrophication: productivity reduction from nutrient decline or ecosystem changes. While lakes becoming clearer is often viewed positively, this results in food web alterations and loss of culturally and commercially importa…

I may still feel like crap and not have gotten enough sleep due to coughing, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna relax and play some quality* games this weekend. The MiSTer is running perfectly and the PVM is still working like a champ.

One more Snowshoeing #clip from last weekend. Some of the videos where I filmed myself have avery high contrast, I have to see how to figure that out because my skin looks horrible.
But meanwhile: have fun watching me hiking up this mountiain :)

Donald Trump is set to hold a press conference in the White House briefing room today at 1pm ET
on the US-Israel war on Iran.
He’s expected to provide an update on the weekend rescue mission to retrieve a crew member after a US F-15 jet was downed on Friday over Iran.
This also comes after the president issued a profanity-laden ultimatum to the Iranian regime on social media to reopen the strait of Hormuz, or face further strikes on energy sites and bridges across the count…

I posted this yesterday, and it got a pretty good response, but I know many people (myself included) bankrupt their unread feeds after a busy weekend, so here it is again because I think it's fun—especially for the #Montreal crowd.

Someone rear-ended me on the way home from Lillehammer this weekend and insurance company just told me it’s not salvageable so guess I’ll be looking for a new car. Guess I need to figure out what electric that’s not Tesla that has the least sucky software.

But I think I'll just check out the paperback catalogue as well in the future.

Donald Trump said this past weekend he wants to “take the oil in Iran”
by seizing control of a key export hub,
echoing a refrain he has returned to for over a decade.
It’s a sign of his disregard for international law -- and belief in “fossil-fuel imperialism”, experts say.
“Trump truly believes that the US is entitled to whatever resource it so desires,”
said Patrick Bigger, co-director of the Transition Security Project, a research initiative focused on the cli…

Weekend #Plankton Factoid 🦠🦐
The polar vortex has caused a cold snap here, and the Great Lakes are rapidly forming ice. Under this thick ice, algae are growing. These are normal diatom phytoplankton, which change to form thick chains, attaching to the underside of the ice where light is optimal. We clearly see this brown ice and water in the wake of our icebreakers. This occurs near the pole…

Hey folks,

A tranquil and inviting forest scene unfolds in this image, capturing the quiet beauty of a woodland trail in late autumn or early spring. The perspective is from behind a hiker, who is looking ahead at a winding trail that disappears into the distance. The hiker is wearing a pink headband and a green backpack, suggesting readiness for an outdoor adventure.

The trail is flanked by trees, their branches mostly bare but adorned with a few lingering brown leaves, adding a touch of seasonal transi…

Got some work to do this weekend, pretty sure the EPROM on the custom SNES cart I made is bad and I'm gonna have to replace the 27C322 with a "new" one. Even decided to buy a decent EPROM eraser, so once that comes in I'll get the old ROM desoldered, program the replacement, and get that installed into this cart.

Almost exactly 2 years ago when it was below -16°C.
This was a real cool experience - literally.
But I'm just so glad that I went there. I think, this waterfall isn't frozen like that so often. So I was just really lucky to be at the right time at the right spot.
And now - enjoy your weekend 😉

A breathtaking winter wonderland unfolds in this stunning scene, where a frozen waterfall cascades down a rugged cliff face, its icicles glistening in the cold light. The waterfall, partially frozen in time, creates a mesmerizing spectacle of nature's raw beauty and power. The ice formations, with their intricate textures and crystalline structures, add a sense of magic and wonder to the landscape.

The surrounding forest is blanketed in a thick layer of snow, with trees standing tall and silen…

Weekend #Plankton Factoid 🦠🦐
In recent years it has been found that phytoplankton productivity can be fueled by deep-sea hydrothermal vents. These vents produce iron and dense microbial blooms which can locally stimulate algae blooms, but it wasn't clear how this linkage of ecosystems separated by kilometers was possible. Now, an Antarctic study suggests that earthquakes can cause violen…

Antarctic and North Pacific krill (Euphausia superba and pacifica) are a vital component of high latitude ecosystems as food for many species including whales. It is also a valued commercial fishery since they are 40% protein and 20% lipid. The quota of 620,000 tonnes was rapidly reached this past year for use as omega-3 oil, bait and animal feed. The Trump administration appeared to acknowledge on Monday that its investigation into
the killing of a Veterans Affairs nurse, Alex Pretti, by federal agents this weekend
was limited to a “use of force” review meant to establish whether government employees had violated training standards.
Such a move, disclosed in court filings, would represent a much narrower inquiry
-- focused on tactics and conduct
-- than one that would examine whether federal agents shoul…

In recent weeks, the U.S. military has built up forces close to Iran, in what Donald Trump has referred to as an “armada.”
Trump is now deciding whether to take military action against Iran as soon as this weekend, officials said.
But unlike last June, when the United States joined Israel in attacking nuclear sites in Iran, the president’s objectives are less clear.
The "armada" includes the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, which is accompanied by three warships …
