in which California wakes up to find every person of Latino descent has vanished into a mysterious haze,
leaving Angelenos panicking over who’s going to mow the lawns and run …

Right-wing America believes in 'replacement theory'. It's not theory, and they don't have to 'believe' it. They should know it's real, as America has been at it for hundreds of years already. In fact, America is responsible for the largest example of population replacement in modern history, virtually wiping out the original indigenous people.

Today, communities, cities, towns and even universities hold Inti Raymi celebrations.

It all fits. Suppose you’re corporate leadership. You’re laying people off / refusing to hire because you have no clue what things will look like even 1 or 2 years in the future, and you are •terrified•.
Meanwhile, your investors, your gullible trend-chasing investors, are already mentally dividing companies into “pre-AI” and “post-AI.” And not only do you have no idea how to be “post-AI,” but you have no idea whether you’ll be solvent next year. What do you tell them?!??
Obviously you tell them you’re not hiring because you’re having such incredible success with AI! Maybe even you’re going to lay off all the senior people! They’ll love that!
Now you’re not failing and flailing — you’re leading the march into the future! Yay!

Where are we going from here?
Where do we go?
Are we all blinded by fear?
Where do we go? How do we know?
Need for survival is clear
We persevere without an end
Into forever, we fall
And wander on and on and on
[Verse 1]
Dust of a thousand years thrown on your path
And in the aftermath, you'll stumble forward
Mouth full of air resuscitating life
And you'll ascend and carry on and on

"What comes next? Perhaps it shouldn’t be so hard to imagine, given the drift of what’s now called geoeconomics. Already, China commands global trade, and modeling from Bloomberg shows that, as constituted today, the tariffs will only add to the lead — pushing many more countries to work more with China and less with America. According to one model, 30 percent of American trading partners would fully recover from even total cessation of U.S. trade within one year; within five years, more than half would. "

The deal, which took two years to negotiate, halted decades of lawsuits over the harm federal dams had caused to the salmon that had sustained those tribes culturally and economically for thousands of years. …
