just looking at my archive of postgresql backups over the past 2 years of my mastodon instance.
In December 2023 just shy of 1 year since spinning it up, the compressed gz file of the database was 600MB.
By Aug 2024 it was 988MB
In April 2025 it was 1500MB
Today it is 1800MB.
That is a 2 user instance. Not small!

Wij zijn vanavond uit eten geweest. Bij Yamas, een aardig, standaard Grieks restaurant in Almere Stad. Het enige bijzondere daaraan is dat de vorige keer dat we ergens uit eten waren op 23 november 2024 was, bijna een jaar geleden. Een jššr! Een jaar gevuld met ongediagnosticeerde ziektes en opnames, operaties, kuren, en nu heel voorzichtig herstel. We hebben voor het eten samen even stiekem zitten janken. En verder was alles fijn.

China’s CO2 emissions have now been flat or falling for 18 months.
The rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) saw CO2 emissions from transport fuel drop by 5% year-on-year, while there were also declines from cement and steel production.
While emissions from the power sector were flat year-on-year, a big rise in the chemical industry’s CO2 output offset reductions elsewhere.
