“If you were an emoji, what emoji would you be?” - Hm, I think I’d pick 👩💻 because that represents how I spend my days the best.
Representation and diversity is an important topic when it comes to emojis. Studies show that the skin tone modifiers 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏿♀️ are primarily used for self representation. And many groups had to fight for their emojis: hijabi women, people with disabilities, redheads, people with curly hair. It is still difficult to show “all” of society in emojis, because human diversity is much more variable than we can show in little pictures: Where I can just say “family” in English and may mean many different constellations, in an emoji I’d have to decide on the number, gender and skin color of all the family members, and that doesn’t even begin to cover all the facets. Thinking about earlier days of free software, I guess GPL was designed for a world where you might get a program on tape, floppy disk, or downloaded from a local BBS (probably historically inaccurate, but stay with me..). You might have an address to write to a human to get the source code off them, or find them and ask for it in-person. I guess the code would move slowly, getting improved in different ways depending on the community it reached.

The motor lamp started to shine bright a couple of days ago on my old trusty SAAB.
Got a cheap ODB reader, and saw the error codes and @… sent me a video that explains how to solve it.
It turns out that the part costs a dollar (a small metal clip) that keep the dump valve in the correct position and it took 3 minutes to fix.

This closes out the series with the editor's passion project finally coming together and finding real, if modest, commercial success.
More hopeful than the earlier volumes. Perseverance pays off instead of ending on quiet resignation. A win for art over profitability, even if a small one.

From May 4th up until June 28th I had some sort of softball activity every single day, with the exception of something like five days. My oldest daughter made the all-stars for her league, and that was one hell of an experience. Two hours of practice every day Monday through Friday and then playing tournaments Saturday/Sunday. I always wondered how did parents do these things and there we were :) It's a lot, but man, the kids learn and play so much, I think it was worth it.

In the past 3 days I've had Claude Opus migrate three small servers from an ad-hoc Debian installation to a simple NixOS setup with testing and rollback. These are small servers with very little state (like homepage and upsnap) but it took almost no work on my part. upsnap was under 30 minutes start to finish and that included an app update.

Husband and I are still recovering from this stupid parainfluenza. The wee one tested negative and he's fit and full of beans. Sundays are usually playground days. I still get very tired easily, but after I did the washing, I thought the wee one deserved some fun. My compromise today was lying on a sun lounge while he enjoyed countless adventures in the backyard in between snacks and a picnic lunch. He was happy and I didn't feel so guilty.
