Just kinda thinking out loud here, don't have a solution or architecture in mind: I really want a better solution for high speed FPGA / ASIC protocol design and debug.
In particular:
1) Using scopehal protocol captures as stimuli for a virtual DUT (i.e. decoded 8b10b of PCIe or something into RTL simulator, pretending to be a SERDES)

There was this mention in the Budgie 10.10 release announcement of ending an era and working together in a very positive way with the KDE team.
What most people, including yours truly, missed was the mention of QT6 as the new development platform of choice for Budgie 11! Part of Frameworks is already in 10.10, and a totally new architecture will be build for Wayland, QT and Budgie. Exciting times!

NeuroSketch: An Effective Framework for Neural Decoding via Systematic Architectural Optimization

Abstract: Neural decoding, a critical component of Brain-Computer Interface (BCI), has recently attracted increasing research interest. Previous research has focused on leveraging signal processing and deep learning methods to enhance neural decoding performance. However, the in-depth exploration of model architectures remains underexplored, despite its proven effectiveness in other tasks such as energy forecasting and image classification. In this study, we propose NeuroSketch, an effective framework for neural decoding via systematic architecture optimization. Starting with the basic architecture study, we find that CNN-2D outperforms other architectures in neural decoding tasks and explore its effectiveness from temporal and spatial perspectives. Building on this, we optimize the architecture from macro- to micro-level, achieving improvements in performance at each step. The exploration process and model validations take over 5,000 experiments spanning three distinct modalities (visual, auditory, and speech), three types of brain signals (EEG, SEEG, and ECoG), and eight diverse decoding tasks. Experimental results indicate that NeuroSketch achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance across all evaluated datasets, positioning it as a powerful tool for neural decoding. Our code and scripts are available at https://github.com/Galaxy-Dawn/NeuroSketch.

The Dying Grove: A Novel Born from the Collision of Joyce and Mycorrhiza
Some books are written. Others are grown. "The Dying Grove" belongs to the second category, and that distinction is not metaphor but method. This novel, the first in a new series called Fractional Fiction, emerged from an experiment in literary hybridization: what happens when you take the formal architecture of modernist masters and seed it with contemporary scientific research? The result is…
Another year, another bunch of books.
I spend most of the year binging through thriller series that I had already had started in 2024.
The books I really liked were the newest book from the Slough House series, the spy novel The Persian, and Fundamentals of Software Architecture (even if I didn't finish it).

Looking at the ARMv8-A ARM and I see implementer ID 0x44 is DEC.
I'm... very confident DEC has never built an ARMv8 CPU core.
Is this just copy-pasted from earlier docs because DEC had an ARM architecture license in years past? Or is this license still valid and held by DEC's successors (I think DEC -> Compaq -> HP -> HPE, does HPE make custom ARM cores?)

Yeah, why not neglect all the good recommendations in the #Python ecosystem, and instead fork your own C extension package, force people to build it with #ZigLang (it's still C), add unconditional dependency on that, and on top of that, refuse to publish wheels, "allowing for optimised compilation according to your machine's specific architecture and capabilities, instead of some (low performance) common denominator."
Fortunately, looks like #Gentoo can just ignore all the fancy crap and compile it with GCC.

"After the 8-bit MOS Technology 6502 that powered the Apple II around 1980, Macs used the 16-bit (later 32-bit) Motorola 68000 around 1990, then 32-bit (later 64-bit) IBM PowerPC around 2000, later settling with Intel’s 32-bit x86 and 64-bit x86-64 around 2010.
We are in 2020, not even around 2020 anymore, and we should be able to spend an insane amount of money to buy Macs powered by ARM architecture CPUs – “finally!”, as some of those headlines online would scream."

Seeing all of the Flock posts lately got me wondering: is there a privacy-preserving way to accomplish the public benefit of traffic/speed cameras (reducing speeding and red light running) without also turning them into blanket ALPR spies tracking where everyone goes?
The best idea I came up with is a split system architecture that treats the camera as adversarial.

Since the so-called ceasefire came into effect in Gaza on October 10,
Israel has been consolidating its control of over 50% of Gaza and
—according to new research by Forensic Architecture

Through a combination of the construction of military infrastructure alongside the destruction of existing buildings,
Israel appears to be laying the groundwork to establish a permanent presence in the majority of the Gaza Strip.
