Abstract: Objective: Present OpenPINT (Open-source Planning for Isoeffective Nuclear Treatments), an open-source treatment planning system for nuclear therapies that integrates Monte Carlo dose calculations with modular dosimetric and radiobiological models for photon-isoeffective dose evaluation.
Approach: We describe the software architecture, implementation choices, and data flow from segmented geometry and source configuration to NIfTI dose outputs. We define BNCT-relevant dosimetric metrics and evaluate the workflow with reproducible analytic and voxelized cylindrical-phantom benchmarks, supplemented by a geometric patient-positioning example.
Main results: The module provides a reproducible and scriptable path for generating MCNP-ready inputs, extracting component-wise BNCT dose maps, and computing analysis-ready outputs for quality checks and decision support. Fine-resolution voxelized configurations reproduced the 1 mm analytic reference within 0.13% for the brain-limited irradiation-time endpoint, whereas the full voxelized sweep exposed deviations up to 4.42% in coarse 8--10 mm configurations. Patient-wide gamma pass rates were at least 99.60% for the evaluated mesh/interpolation cases, while low-dose DVH-tail quantities remained sensitive to boundary discretization.
Significance: This first paper isolates and validates the simulation-preparation and dosimetric-analysis core of an open-source BNCT treatment-planning platform. It establishes a foundation for subsequent work on optimization, biological weighting, and clinical workflow integration.

A Splitting Architecture for Exact Reduced Coulomb Friction

Abstract: Existing approaches to frictional contact dynamics typically either modify the Coulomb law to improve numerical robustness or solve the exact law in a fully coupled monolithic form. However, in its reduced form, exact Coulomb friction can be written as a cone complementarity problem with an augmented velocity, which reveals a natural split between a cone-constrained linear response and a scalar non-associated coupling induced by tangential velocity. We exploit this structure in the solver design. Our method uses an outer iteration to update the non-associated coupling explicitly, and an inner solve for a strongly convex cone-constrained quadratic program. This separation also makes the inner solver modular, so different numerical schemes can be used without changing the outer iteration. We evaluate the method on rigid-body benchmarks with stick-slip transitions and frictional stacking, and show that it reproduces exact Coulomb complementarity without smoothing or relaxing the friction law.

I’m not sure if they will be able to make this work, for two reasons:
1. “AI” craze inflating prices will lead to low demand
2. While Windows runs natively, practically no apps do and many will never get ported because it’s a tiny market.
This will lead to most consumers and businesses to choose a x86-64 computer so apps and games run smoothly.
The crux why Apple could pull this off is tight integration of hardware and software, an extremely good transparent emulation layer for older software, control over the development tools that most apps are made with, and most importantly discontinuation of their Intel-based machines.
Additionally, they’ve had the same underlying OS and apps that share code running for over a decade on that architecture already on their mobile platforms, and they had the experience from another architecture migration in the mid 2000s.

Long-horizon prediction of three-dimensional wall-bounded turbulence with CTA-Swin-UNet and resolvent analysis

Abstract: Long-horizon prediction of three-dimensional (3D) wall-bounded turbulence with machine-learning methods remains a challenging task, due to the rapid accumulation of autoregressive errors and the substantially computational cost. To address these challenges, we present a hybrid machine-learning framework, in which a channel-time-attention Swin-UNet (CTA-Swin-UNet) and a multi-time-scale fusion correction (MTFC) strategy are developed to predict the turbulent flow fields in a wall-parallel plane, with affordable computational cost. Then, 3D flow fields are reconstructed via a resolvent-based spectral linear stochastic estimation (SLSE), rooting from the predicted planar flow. Results show that the CTA-Swin-UNet outperforms the baseline models (LSTM, FNO and traditional Swin-UNet) in both single-step prediction and autoregressive rollouts, indicating the effectiveness of introducing the CTA module into the Swin-UNet architecture. At the same temporal interval, the CTA-Swin-UNet remains stable for approximately 150 rollout steps, while the baseline models fail within 20 to 50 rollout steps. After introducing the MTFC strategy, a longer horizon upto 300 steps is achieved. Using the resolvent-based SLSE reconstruction further recovers the 3D flow structures and energy spectral distributions from the predicted planar inputs, which demonstrates that the proposed framework provides an effective and computationally efficient approach for long-horizon autoregressive prediction of 3D wall-bounded turbulence.
