It may be the world's first instance of nanotechnology use, as the precious metals inside are smaller even than the wavelengths of light.

In ancient Egypt, the precursor to the copper-based "Zurich Blue" was already prized for its brilliant blue color.

So after an obviously politically-motivated attempt to prosecute people who protested against ICE—so obvious they could not get a grand jury to indict, even after dismissing jurors who correctly called the case "a crock of s---", the Chicago US prosecutors office cites the stress caused by the governments own orgy of violence—violence against immigrants, people of color, and anybody trying to stop the kidnappings and assaults—as excusing away mistakes.

🎨 Blade-aware Tailwind sorting: in dynamic classes like bg-{{ $color }}-500 the partial class is pinned in place. The @theme block is loaded first, so custom classes like bg-brand sort alongside the built-in colors

Tabling for my Department (Historical Studies) at our campus open house. I love the stickers a colleague brought (though am distressed at the likelihood that many were created by AI).

Given that cherries are extremely perishable, a picked cherry loses quality by the hour.
Vision-based dynamic class segmentation enables shipping
first-class cherries with dark color, perfect stems, and high firmness,
and airfreighting them to China or Vietnam, where consumers pay $15-$25 per pound for a high-status gift.

Can’t make it to Athens, Georgia (or Raleigh, North Carolina, where the show will be next), to see “Edmonia Lewis: Said in Stone”? You may want a copy of the book instead. Here’s our blog post about the wealth of information it contains.

My wife complained her iPhone 17 display was "turning pink". Fishing through settings menus revealed Accessibility > Display > Color Filters set to pink. I turned it off, phone normal.
But the phone kept turning pink. Online searches revealed the default "Accessibility action" for hitting the side button 3x was to turn *on* the color filter (easy to do by accident just handling the phone).
Who at Apple thought this was a useful default??

And while I realize there are millions of Mizrahi in Israel, this stance essentially slams shut the emotional door to Jews of color in the USA, or anyone else who can't abide apartheid politics.

As an aside, I have determined that the best markup for my website for the output of gen-AI content is:
And I set my CSS such that:
So it's output is always by-default hidden, expandable, and when expanded rendered in green with a robot avatar and a monospace font.
Hard to imagine never quoting robots now. Whoever instructed them. But certainly want to make it clear what that is.

This was my NeXT Mail avatar at that time, back in 1992. (64x64 pixels with 4 bits of each color channel per pixel (444 RGB) felt like a pretty high quality image in that era!)
The self-photo was taken in NeXT's sales office at Carillon Point in Kirkland, where Omni's founders were working as consultants (across the lake from Seattle), by hooking up a camcorder's video output to the video input on a NeXTdimension board.

Just a weekend thought, apropos of nothing. There have been a lot of times I've been angry at not being included in something I was qualified for, and that anger is worse when it's clear that I've been actively *disincluded* for being a woman. I mostly convert that rage into Achievement Fuel, but it also hurts to see it happen to other women.
When some group or launch or listicle is billed as a gathering of high achievers or the stars of the industry, and it's a dozen or more white men, any woman or person of color who speaks up faces a double challenge. Are they speaking up because they're sour grapes over not being invited? Or are they not collegial or easy to get along with, as made evident by the fact that they're calling out injustice?
If you're a man who finds himself on a manel, speak up. If you're a white woman and you find yourself on a panel of nothing but white women (oh lord, ask me about the egg on my face on this one), speak up. Or better yet, check in advance that the convenor or organizer didn't make a serious mistake without realizing it.
There's room for grace over people's mistakes, but there is no room for not admitting you made one.
