"Yet what matters isn’t the specific phrases, but the overall message: Donald Trump now genuinely lives in a different reality, one in which neither grammar nor history nor the normal rules of human interaction now affect him. Also, he really is maniacally, unhealthily obsessive about the Nobel Prize.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee, not the Norwegian government and certainly not the Danish government, determines the winner of that prize. Yet Trump now not only blames Norway for failing to give it to him, but is using it as a justification for an invasion of Greenland."

I'm trying to play through the implications of some software I've been thinking about maybe designing.
It's legal to make a digital copy of the media that you own (videos, audio) physical copies of. It's legal to give a physical copy of your media to someone else or loan it out, which transfers your viewing license while they have It. Then it should also be legal to let someone else use a digital copy of your media given that you don't also use it at the same time. So as long as you keep track of your license, you should be able to let exactly one person stream some media you own.
If someone else then "steals" that content and views it without a license then that has to be legally on them, otherwise streaming platforms would be liable whenever someone cracks some DRM.
So then, it should be completely legal to set up a local community media library streaming service where you can share content you own licenses to as long as you track your license count and don't let more people stream at any given time than there are licenses available.
Is there something obvious I'm missing (aside from the MPAA and RIAA don't care about the law and will just sue anyone they can just to make an example)?

#infosec annoyance of the day - I use a tool for work that requires me to put in a rolling one-time code for 2fa, and doesn't show the code as I'm typing it.
That would be ok, except if I switch apps to copy the code so I can paste it in, it usually forces me to re-enter my username and password, then even though I'm in the 30 second validity window, it refuses the code.
So I have to wait till the 30 seconds roll over, copy the code, switch to the tool, re-enter my username/password, hope it doesn't take so long to negotiate with the back end that the code in my clipboard expires, then finally paste the code.
Conveniently I only have to do it multiple times a day, every work day.

"This instinct—to ignore existing borders, laws, and treaties; to treat other countries as artificial; to break up trade links and destroy friendships, all because the Leader wants to look powerful—is one that Trump shares with imperialists of the past."

May Euell Gibbons eat your only copy of the manual!

Trump has sent letters of invitation to various heads of government to join a new "Board of Peace",
which he will chair.
The organization was envisioned as part of the United Nations–backed effort for the reconstruction and transitional governance of Gaza.
But the new board’s charter, details of which have not been previously reported, appears to give the board a global remit, according to a copy we reviewed.
And the price of a permanent position on the…

ISTB University of Vienna on Instagram: "We are deeply honoured and delighted that the South Asian, Tibetan, and Buddhist Studies Library has been selected as one of the distinguished institutions to receive the eighty-volume commemorative edition of the Tipitaka, published in Thailand in 2016 to mark the seventieth anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol’s accession to the throne. The Thai monarchy has long upheld a well-established tradition of commissioning, presenting, and receiving editions of the Pali Canon. In 1893, King Rama V commissioned the first printed edition of the Tipitaka in Thailand, which was subsequently presented as a gift to institutions in more than twenty-five countries. The 40-volume “King Bhumibol Edition” allows monks and Buddhist laity worldwide to chant the Tipiṭaka in a consistent, rule-based manner. It is accompanied by the 40-volume “Queen Sirikit Edition” which reproduces King Rama V’s use of Syām-Pāli annotation with additional notes. The ISTB library provides an ideal home for this new edition of the Tipitaka. With a collection of more than 70,000 volumes in over ninety Asian languages, it serves as a vital centre for research and teaching in South Asian, Tibetan, and Buddhist Studies at the University of Vienna."

Due to a slight gift mishap, I find myself with a duplicate copy of volumes 1 - 3 of Donald Knuth’s “The Art of Computer Programming” post-Christmas.
If anyone in the PDX area would cherish a copy of this work, I’d like to talk to you!
I’d rather see it going to a loving home than put too much effort into maximizing sales value.

Grabbed wifey a Switch 2 so she'll have a new game to play (Bananza) on her upcoming break. I did try some Mario Kart World, it's a blast, of course. Gotta have the kid over eventually to fully take advantage of that one. The graphics are crispy on this thing, and the screen is quite a bit bigger. And a rounded charger base. 😂😂

Duaa Izzidien - Visual Storyteller & Artist on Instagram: "I had far too much fun creating this reel and couldn’t bring myself to delete any of it to make it shorter and more algorithm friendly 🙈 If you watched it all the way to the end - well done! You’ve just demonstrated the very thing the reel is about - showing up is the only talent that matters. My arrows don’t always hit the target. My paintings don’t always turn out how I planned. And honestly? Life rarely goes the way I intend. But really that isn’t what matters. In Islam we say that actions are by intentions and that sometimes means letting go of controlling our outcomes. We can control our intentions, our effort, showing up - but we have to remember that the result doesn’t actually come from those actions. Sometimes the arrow misses because there’s a better lesson waiting or perhaps it’s to remind you to stay humble and remember that ‘you’ are not the architect of your success. Sometimes the painting goes “wrong” because it’s becoming something more beautiful than you imagined. Sometimes life doesn’t work out the way you planned because there’s something different, better, round the corner for you. A huge thank you to @thabitoon_archers and @mamluk.academy for teaching me. You’ve taught me far more than just archery - you’ve taught me a rich history and life lessons that bring peace. (any mistakes in my form are entirely mine!). Want to learn how to use art as a tool for trusting and letting go of control? DM me ‘CREATE’ and I’ll show you these techniques. #showingisenough #trusttheprocess #archery #archerygirl #traditionalarchery #archerylife #overwhelm #personalgrowth #innerstrength #growthmindset #breakthrough #findingmyself #resilience #transformation #letgoofcontrol"

I guess Saya Gray put out some demo mixtape just on her tour, and I can't even find it anywhere, not on YouTube, nothing. Man, I'd really like to hear that. Guess this is how artists build mystique. But it's annoying as hell hahaha. If anyone runs across a copy of that, let me know?
FINAL EDIT - it's definitely called 'Saya Demo Mixtape' and this is the tracklist & cover art, if you find it:
